We are using iCalendar feeds from our school’s SIS system to propagate the calendar through event aggregator. Two issues we are happening are:

    1) When we delete events from the source – the items are not deleted from the website calendar because event aggregator is not removing them.
    2) When we change the date on an existing event – the event is now duplicated because event aggregator is not updating the original event and is creating a new event, leaving the original event.

We used to use the All-in-One Event Calendar plugin from your competitor and they had an option on each feed to “On refresh, preserve previously imported events that are missing from the feed: ” – No would delete the deleted events from the website calendar that were deleted from the source. Yes – would preserve them.

We like your plugin better, but can’t live with these issues, so do I have to go back to the other plugin until you can update event aggregator to support this functionality, or are there any plans in the near future to address these problems?

    Let me know.

    Thanks!

    Mike

Hi, Michael. Sorry you’re experiencing this.

    1)

This is expected; I believe you’re requesting the same thing as one of our existing feature requests: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/15047292-option-to-remove-events-not-present-in-a-reimporte

Please do add your vote there.

This allows us to gauge interest in this particular feature request, which helps us prioritize our development efforts.

    2)

Event Aggregator stores each event’s UID (a required field in the iCalendar spec) so sometimes this happens when an application’s iCal export doesn’t keep UIDs consistent on each different export, as they should.

Please look into this and let me know what you find out.

    Hi Cliff:

Thanks for getting back to me.

For the events deleted at the source not being deleted in event aggregator – I did vote for that change – but as I said in the initial report I have to go back to the other plugin until you can update event aggregator to support this functionality because we cannot be maintaining 2 different calendars (the source and the website) as this could potentially cause the calendars to be out of sync – something the other plugin handles for us.

For the events we change the date on I did verify that the UID is the same on both the original export and the export with the date change for the event. However, the event is still on the website calendar twice – the original date and the changed date.

    Thanks…

    Mike

I understand you using the plugin with the functionality you need. However, I’m unclear if you actually need help troubleshooting calendar updates not syncing changes to your WordPress site if you won’t be using the plugin anymore.

Also, if you don’t plan to use Event Aggregator anymore, maybe you’d like to swap your remaining time with it for an Image Widget Plus license? I could do that for you if you’d like.

    Hi Cliff:

No need to troubleshoot until event aggregator supports syncing deleting events at the source. At that time we would start using the plugin again.

In the meantime – that would be great if you could swap the remaining time for an image widget plus license.

    Thanks…

    Done!

I issued you an Image Widget Plus Business-level license (since you had 2 sites registered for Event Aggregator) and just set it up for a year:

If you’ve got any other questions, feel free to create a new forum thread.

    Thanks! 🙂
