Events Calendar taken site down due to Slow Query

Hi, I am also having performance problems. The Events Calendar Pro plugin has now rendered my site (www.dickensheath.net) unusable as I am unable to log in – I always receive a 502 Gateway error. I contacted WPEngine support and they advised it was due to a slow running query from Events Calendar plugin. I have now had to disable this plugin in order to use my site again. Please could you advise when this problem will be fixed so that I can use the plugin I have paid for again?

I have also disabled all other plugins and reverted to the base theme – see the site at dickensheath.staging.wpengine.com. This has the same error – 502 Bad Gateway as soon as I Active the Events Calendar plugin again.

Hi again, Jon: can you confirm A) if you currently have a large number of recurring events – and if any might actually be duplicates – and B) if you make much use of the hide from upcoming events list option?

Hi Barry,
I do have some recurring events – the classes and activities on regularly each week at our village hall and parish council rooms. I don’t think any are duplicates but unable to check for sure at the moment as had to disable the plugin.
I do hide the regular weekly events from the upcoming events list as I wanted this to be just the one off events that need publicity.

Now fixed. I was unable to do anything through wordpress as the plugin had taken down my site and the admin backend. I could disable the plugin but then unable to use any of the plugin functionality in wordpress backend.
Fixed by using Php My Admin to run two queries:
DELETE FROM wp_postmeta WHERE post_id IN (SELECT FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type = ‘tribe_events’)
DELETE FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type = ‘tribe_events’
That cleared all my events calendar data from the site without deleting any of the other posts or pages on my site. Now able to log in again and use site. Although, will have to enter all events again from scratch.

Hi there, I’ve noticed the same error with the LONG QUERY in our error log. I haven’t seen the site go down but it does load a little slower than normal. Let us know if you find anything out! We are also on WPEngine. Thank you!
