I am primarily interested in purchasing the Community Events add-on, but my client really wants the calendar-view widget, rather than just the list. Am I correct that we would have to buy both Pro and Community Events to achieve this? I looked at Bundles, but it looks like I’d be paying for a number of the other add-ons we don’t really need, when all we’re really after from Pro is a calendar widget. 😉

What options are available for this? Or am I just misunderstanding the features?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hey Ashley,

Thanks for reaching out. You say, “my client really wants the calendar-view widget, rather than just the list.” Can you clarify what you mean by “the calendar-view widget”? Can you share links to where you see this on our sites or elsewhere, and perhaps also share a screenshot of this widget in action somewhere?

I just want to make sure I totally understand what you are referring to.

    Thanks!

Sure! I’m referring to one of the ‘advanced widgets’ listed as a feature of Events Calendar Pro. In the free version, you only have an “Events List” widget that lists the events, but no way to show those events in a classic “calendar” view unless you upgrade to Pro. In Pro, I think its called the “Events Calendar” widget.

Here’s a link to the documentation on the differing widgets: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/events-calendar-widgets/

I intend to purchase Community Events, but I just wanted to know if there was a way to also get this calendar widget with that, instead of having to also buy the Pro just for a widget? 🙂

    Thanks for your help!

    Hey Ashley,

Thanks for clarifying this. At this time there is no way to get that feature without buying a license for Events Calendar Pro outright. 🙁 I am sorry to disappoint!

Bummer. Perhaps I’ll submit it as a ‘feature’ suggestion? It makes sense to pay for it, but if you’re already buying one add-on … it would just make sense to include some advanced widgets in all the add-on purchases, IMHO. 😉

Sure thing Ashley—I agree that it would be ideal to not have the feature bound to the whole Pro plugin and thus require buying the whole kitchen sink for one or two features. 🙁 At this time it’s not possible, but if you email me at support at the events calendar dot com (with no spaces of course) and include a link to this thread for reference I have something that should help a bit! 😉

I’ll close this thread to facilitate that emailing—please do email me!

    Cheers,
    George
