GuestHello,
We are using the events calendar on our website to announce upcoming events and we would like to add the possibillity to register for these events. We’re a small watersport association and do not need the payment options, most of the time the events are for free; we just want to know who will join the event.
On the event page (or in a blog post, sidebar etc.) we would like to show a list of people who already registered for an event together with a selection of custom fields created with Event Tickets Plus extension. We think this will encourage others to join the event (often it helps when you see your friends already registered).
Example public attendee listing:
Name | <customfield 1> | <customfield 2> | <customfield 3>
1. John Doe | value | another value | some other value
2. Jane Doe | value | another value | some other value
3. Peter Pan | value | another value | some other value
…Would this somehow be possible to create with Event Tickets Plus?
Thank you in advance for your reply and kind regards,
Johann

MemberHi Johann,
Thanks for both getting in touch and for using The Events Calendar! I’m really happy to hear you’re enjoying the calendar so far and are considering checking out Event Tickets for registrations as well.
Event Tickets Plus does indeed include a public attendees list and the ability to accept custom fields with registration. I do want to note that the attendee list is merely a gallery of photos of those attending, using the Gravatar account associated with the email address of the attendee. Here’s a screenshot as an example of how that looks.
It’s certainly possible to customize the attendee list template (with tips on editing templates in our Themer’s Guide) but it will require some custom development to make it happen exactly the way you mentioned.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

GuestHi Geoff,
Thank you for your quick and thorough reply and i’am glad to hear that the attendees list template can be customized in order to display some of the custom fields on the website.
You wrote “I do want to note that the attendee list is merely a gallery of photos of those attending, using the Gravatar account associated with the email address of the attendee.”
Because of the Gravatar association it seems that this feature (the public attendees list) is only possible when users who have an account an are logged in, is this the case?
Kind regards,
Johann

MemberHey Johann,
Happy Friday and thanks for following up!
The attendees list will be visible to anyone, regardless of being logged into WordPress or not. Whether someone has a photo of themselves or a generic WordPress avatar displayed in the list, however, will certainly be determined by whether the attendee has a Gravatar account associated with the email address used to register for the event.
Does that make more sense? Let me know!

GuestHi Geoff,
Thanks! One final check; people who register for an event do not have to use a WordPress account but can just use their email address right?
Have a nice weekend!

MemberHi Johann, hope you head a great weekend!
That’s absolutely correct: a person does not need to use WordPress.com or be logged into your WordPress site in order to register for an event. Their name and email address are the only two bits of information required by default, the latter of which is needed to send the ticket email.
Cheers!
