    Hi Craig!

    Thanks for reaching out to us! 🙂 Let me try and help you with this.

    I ran some tests in your site with gtmetrix and in general I can say you are experiencing some performance issues.

    I see you’re using the P3 profiler to get the data. P3 Profiler is probably not the best way to get an accurate view of the overall performance on your site. Its auto scan randomly selects some archive/tag pages and then tests them. It calls this the average for the site. Thus plugins which add lots of posts can be punished because it is more likely to include posts from that plugin.

    There is a good article George put up here that groups a set of developer plugins. I like using Query Monitor because it’s more granular than P3 and gives more detailed information, specially for database queries.

    We have a great article that will get you started on Performance Considerations you should know about. After that, if you decide to implement a caching system then you can move to these articles: Caching: What, when and how and Caching month view HTML in transients

    I hope this helps and let me know if you have other questions.

    Cheers,
    Victor

    Hello Victor, and thank you for the reply. I will read all of the references you posted. In the meantime, I have downloaded the plugin you referenced, and it still finds this:

    Slow Database Queries (above 0.05s)Query Caller Component Rows Time
    SELECT comment_approved, COUNT( * ) AS num_comments
    FROM wp_comments
    WHERE comment_type != “tribe-ea-error”
    GROUP BY comment_approved

    Tribe__Events__Aggregator__Errors->remove_error_comments_from_wp_counts()
    wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Aggregator/Errors.php:187

    Plugin: the-events-calendar 1 0.1039

    It is still one of two plugins causing some issue.

    Hi Nick!

    Thanks for coming back with all that information.

    I reached out to the team so I could have a second opinion on this issues you mention.

    The first issue seems to be a database query call from Event Aggregator. As you don’t own an Event Aggregator license, we think it is not supposed to be there. So I will log a report about this so the dev team will see if there is something that needs to get adjusted. I will let you know as soon as I have feedback on this.

    Regarding the second issue, we think this could be an isolated event so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It’s probably safe to disregard.

    Could you please share with us your sys info by following this guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Nick!

    Thanks for coming back.

    I have logged a ticket for the Event Aggregator query and it will be taken into account by the dev team in a future release cycle and we will let you know when there is a resolution for it.

    Bear in mind this is the first report on this issue and can’t yet state if it is actually an error. While we do think it is strange the query is showing, I don’t believe this can be the cause of a considerable slowdown in performance.

    I do think that having access to your system info would give the dev team more information to run tests based on your settings and see if there is anything strange with it.

    Let me know if you have other questions. 🙂

    Best,
    Victor

    Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
    The Events Calendar Support Team
