    Hi,

In our ‘Submit An Event’ page (on the front-end of the website), once a user submits an event, in the back-end where we have to approve the event, the event date changes to the date the user submitted the event (rather than the intended date of the event).

E.g. If I am submitting an event today (18/02/16) and I enter the event date to be 10/03/2016 – on the backend, once verifying the event, the only date shown is 18/02/16. Strangely however, the event times seem to work fine.

Please let me know how to go about fixing this.

    Thanks,
    CDC

    Hey CDC,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

I did some testing on my local install with the latest version of the plugin however, I wasn’t able to recreate the issue you’re describing here. I then changed my date format to match what you describe as well (day/month/year) but was still unable to recreate the issue. When going to approve an event, the date was what was expected and didn’t revert to the current day.

    • Can you verify that you’re using the latest versions of all plugins?
    • Have you tried following our Testing for Conflicts procedures to ensure there isn’t a conflict occurring here with another plugin or theme?

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks!

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for your reply! We did follow the Testing for Conflicts procedure and got some strange results..

It seems that the plugin that may be affecting the submission date is ‘WPML Multilingual CMS’.

Firstly, disabling all plugins and testing the submission – the date showed up fine on the back-end pending section of the events.

But, we also tested the submission once again with all the plugins enabled – this time it showed that there was an extra event in the pending section (for approval), but when we clicked into this section, all we could see was the previous pending event (the one we submitted when testing the submissions with all the plugins disabled). When we disabled the ‘WPML Multilingual CMS’ plugin, we suddenly saw the missing event (the one we tested with all plugins enabled) in the pending section, and the submission date was correct.

So it seems like the plugin affects the event submission in that it delays/stops the event submission from being seen in the pending section (for approval). We noticed this before, but thought it might be that it takes a bit of time for the event submission to show up in the back end. To add to this, we do still get the auto-generated email telling us the event has been submitted. If we click on the link within this email, it takes us to the event allowing us to approve it. If we, at that same time were to manually go to the pending section of the events, it shows an event there in brackets e.g. ‘Pending (1)’, but when we click on the pending tab, there is often nothing there.

So, I’m a little confused about two things:
    1) How long does it generally take for a submitted event to properly show up in the back-end?
    2) Is it possible that because the plugin seems to be delaying/stopping the submitted event from showing up that the date automatically resets?

Hope that all makes sense. Let me know if you have any further suggestions!

    Thanks,
    CDC

    Hey CDC,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Out of curiosity, with the WPML plugin activated, do you experience the same issues with the “Pending” filter on other post types? For example, if you were to create a new post and set it to “Pending Review”, do you experience the same “Pending” filter issue when viewing the post table within your dashboard?

    You mention:

To add to this, we do still get the auto-generated email telling us the event has been submitted. If we click on the link within this email, it takes us to the event allowing us to approve it

So it sounds like the events are getting submitted as expected and awaiting your approval, the main problem on that front is that WPML is preventing the display of that event within the table within your dashboard?

    Am I understanding that correctly?

    Thanks!

    Hi Josh,

So, I tried creating a post with the ‘pending review’ – actually it didn’t show up on the dashboard, but it showed up as ‘pending’ in the posts section itself. With regards to the events, I didn’t mean the dashboard – similarly, I meant under the ‘Events’ section, under the pending filter.

So in that instance, under the Events tab – I have the filters: All, Published, Mine & Pending (this filter only shows up if there are pending events). If an event is submitted, there is sometimes a number next to this filter e.g. Pending (1), but when we click into it, there are no events shown.

I also just tested if I, from the WP backend, create an event and set it as ‘pending review’ whether it appears in the pending filter, and whether I can go into that filter and open it – and it does work. So it seems like only when an event is submitted from the ‘Submit An Event’ page on the website, it doesn’t properly show up in the filter (even though it technically does show that there is a pending event there as indicated by the number in brackets). The only way for us to then check the event is to click into it from the hyperlink provided in the auto-generated email, and then when we do, the date seems to reset to the day the event was submitted (also the same as the date the email was received), rather than the actual event date input in the submission.

So to answer your second question – events are getting submitted. It works – it takes you to the submission complete page. It then sends an email to the email we’ve provided saying that an event has been submitted and is pending approval. We go into the backend of wordpress, to the events section (events tab) and can see that there is a pending event – but when we click this filter, we see no events (unless of course we click to view the pending event through the hyperlink provided in the email). So in essence, yes, it seems like WPML is preventing us from seeing the pending events (that have been submitted from the ‘Submit An Event’webpage) in the events section itself.

Hope that makes a little more sense!

    Thanks,
    CDC

    Hey CDC,

    Thanks for clarifying here!

It looks like there is a definite incompatibility issue here with the WPML plugin. Unfortunately, we currently only have active compatibility support for The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO when it comes to the WPML plugin.

We are working on further support and Community Events will eventually be supported but unfortunately at this time we can’t guarantee full compatibility with these other plugins.

I apologize for the inconvenience here. Let me know if there is anything else that I can help with at this time.

    Thanks!

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for getting back to me on this. It’s such a shame that Community Events is not compatible with WPML in this regard. We do hope that there will be a fix in the near future otherwise we might have to consider looking at another plugin, as the ‘Submit An Event’ section is a very integral part of our website.

    Thanks,
    CDC.

    Hey CDC,

I definitely apologize for the inconvenience here and understand completely where you’re coming from.

Due to the way each of our plugins are developed, there was a long history of complete incompatibility with WPML. We worked last year to get general compatibility for The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO.

We’re continuing to work with the team at WPML to complete the compatibility for all of our plugins and we hope to get that accomplished this year. However, there isn’t a set timeline that I could provide here for when these might be accomplished.

    Thanks!
