    Hi!

We’re currently facing an issue – that whenever we’re setting events as ‘series’ and the event receiving an additional dates to its URL (i.e: program/event-name/2017-xx-xx) the additional event pages with the dates are appearing as non existing, even though they do appear and exist on the backend and got a permalink (which once clicked is leading to an Error 404 page).

You may view sample events series we’ve created for the months of November and December 2017 at: http://www.paradisoubud.com/program/2017-11/

Hoping you’ll be able to help us sort this issue.
    Thank you!

    Hi there!

Thank you for reaching out to us!

I’m so sorry for this problem you’re experiencing, let me help you solve it!

Can you please make sure that both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO are up to date? After that, please access your Dashboard and head over to Settings -> Permalinks for a permalink flush (no need to change anything, just visit the permalinks page: WordPress will automatically flush your permalinks once you visit it).

Be sure to clear your site cache and browser cache after this change.

Let me know if this helps to solve your problem!

    Best Regards,

    Patricia

    Hi.

I’ve made all of the steps you’ve suggested – but unfortunately the issue still persists.

Looking forward hearing from you further,
    Thanks!

    Hi there!

I’m sorry to hear that the permalink flush didn’t help you to solve this problem!

Just to make sure we are on the same page: can you please confirm that Events Calendar PRO (ECP) was upgraded to version 4.4.17? As I can see from your System Info, you were running Events Calendar PRO 4.4.1 when you started this thread.

The permalink logic for recurring events was moved from The Events Calendar to Events Calendar PRO on version 4.4.14, so it could be the cause of the issue you are experiencing. You can download the latest version here.

Don’t forget to access the permalinks page and purge W3 Total Cache after the update.

If you followed these steps and the issue persists, I would suggest you to run a Conflict Test.

You can start the test by temporarily deactivating all of your plugins (except Modern Tribe plugins) and changing your theme to another one like Twenty Seventeen and let us know if the issue persists after that.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be happy to assist.

    Best Regards,

    Patricia

    Hi.

I didn’t realize that Events Calendar PRO wasn’t set on the latest version – since in the plugins page it did not ask to update.

I’ve updated it manually via the FTP to the latest version s you’ve suggested and now the issue seems to be resolved.

    Last question:
How can we set up the dates on the permalink to be “Event-name/day-month-year/” instead of “Event-name/2017-11-23/” as it is now?

    Thanks so much!
    🙂

    Hi there,

That’s good news! I’m glad to hear that everything is working as expected now!

Regarding your request to change the permalink date format, it is possible, but it would require changes on two fronts:

    – A customization to override or add extra rewrite rules supporting the new format.
    – A customization that overrides the way you generate those permalinks when creating links for recurring event posts.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to help you with this level of customization as it is out of the scope of our support. We do have a list of recommended developers who could help you out with the code if you need it:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/

Thank you for your understanding and let me know if you have any other questions!

    Regards,

    Patricia

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
