ParticipantOur latest event posted twice to the event description page. The top one shows all the settings for the event form plus a comment box, and the second below it shows it as it should look to users. Why are we getting it twice? See http://events.stcwdc.org/event/stc-wdcb-summer-vision-day-meeting/

MemberHi there,
I’m sorry we haven’t been in touch with a reply here. We’ve been inundated with support requests as more people update to 3.0, so we are a little behind our usual 24-hour window for responses. We do not do support over the weekend, but we will be in touch here with a more substantial reply as soon as possible.
In the meantime, some of these tips might be helpful:
* Double check your Plugin page for updates. We’ve just released our latest maintenance release. As of 7/12, the most current versions are The Events Calendar 3.0.1 and Events Calendar PRO 3.0.2.
* If you’re experiencing a problem with links, try resetting and resaving your permalinks.
* If the issue is with settings, try resaving your settings page- even if you haven’t changed anything.
* Having trouble with a customization done in 2.x? Be sure to check out our Themer’s Guide and documentation. You might also search the forums to see if someone else has a similar issue and has found a solution. Finally, if the problem you’re experiencing is a serious problem, you may choose to downgrade back to 2.0.11.
Thank you for your patience and support.
Best,
Leah

ParticipantWhat is scary about this is that after the update to 3.0.2, this event disappeared from the full calendar and the widgets in the sidebar. But the post for it still showed below the calendar. I just saw Leah’s reply above and clicked on the link for the post that I had in my report to see if maybe the double post had been fixed in the update and I got a 404 Page Not Found! So now it is very confusing. No event in the calendars, a copy of the post on the home page, the original information is still in the Events admin page, but instead of the event being double posted in the page at http://events.stcwdc.org/event/stc-wdcb-summer-vision-day-meeting/, it is completely gone. Can I get it back? It is a this Monday event.

MemberHi Cynthia,
Sorry you are having such a bumpy ride this go around on the plugin.
So I just want to confirm a few things. According to what you say in your last comment You are getting a 404 on this link: http://events.stcwdc.org/event/stc-wdcb-summer-vision-day-meeting/?
Also you mentioned you are not seeing the event show in the widget and the calendar after the update to 3.0.2, is that correct? If so I’m not seeing those issues on my end. I’m seeing the specific event correctly at the above link and I’m seeing the event show in the sidebar for the upcoming events widget and the widget calendar and the full calendar.
However I am seeing the event show up twice in the list view, which I guess is the original issue. Can you confirm what you are now seeing on your end and we’ll use that as a starting point. Also if there is a difference in the results you are getting see if you can screenshot it and it will be good for us to compare results.

ParticipantHi Neil,
The 3.0.3 update took care of the missing events in the calendar so that part is working OK now. You helped me fix the huge title in the widget but the event for today is over so now it doesn’t show and I’ll have to wait for a new event to see how my additional styling looks.Yes, the original issue is still an issue–double posting on the event post page: http://events.stcwdc.org/event/stc-wdcb-summer-vision-day-meeting/. I don’t know what templates or styles control this page. It is trying to include the right sidebar but it is pushing it below the posts. Screen capture is at http://events.stcwdc.org/wp-content/uploads/double_posting_of_event.png

MemberHi Cynthia,
It looks like there’s more to this then just a double post. Whatever is being published below the original post, both looks terrible and looks like isn’t working (I tried playing with the sidebar widget and the month doesn’t seem to change.) I am going to see if I can go through this with a developer and see if we can dig a little deeper.
Just to confirm, you mentioned you’ve reverted to the 2011 theme, and that none of your plugins seem to be causing the conflict. If thats the case is what we are seeing live here the 2011 theme without any new templates added or customized?

ParticipantI am using a child theme of Twenty Eleven so yes, there are modifications and additions to the css and also in the functions. Some of them have been suggestions from Tribe to fix other problems but most of it is to add functionality to the site. I can send you a copy of the functions file and css, which is long because other plugins require their entire css file be included to make changes (GForms).
I had added some function and css to try to get the sidebar to appear on each page but I am giving up on that because some things just won’t allow it such as the 404 page, Events Calendar pages, etc. So I am now converting to using special templates and template content files for pages I really want the sidebar on for site navigation and accessibility to the calendar widget in the sidebar.

MemberHi Cynthia,
If you have a way of sharing your functions file that would be great. Are you able to use something similar to this: http://pastebin.com/?

MemberCynthia,
I know you do this for most of your support issues, but I didn’t ask you specifically in this thread if you have deactivated your plugins one by one to see if any of them are causing this issue? I know its a hassle doing it for each thread, but if you can confirm that, it’ll be another avenue we can rule out, and help us narrow down exactly what is causing this issue.
Thanks again Cynthia!

ParticipantWith trial and error tests over the weekend, I managed to get the second copy of the posting to go away and also the right sidebar. However, I still get a second copy of the comment form and I don’t know where that is coming from.

MemberHi Cynthia,
Did you try what I suggested in my last comment. I know its a hassle and we do it on every comment, but it really would help us get to the bottom of this for you. If we can rule out a misbehaving plugin then we can really did deeper for you, or alternatively if it is the plugin, we can see if there’s a solution for you.
Thanks

ParticipantNeil, I tested all my plugins. None of the plugins affected the double posting or the sidebar showing up. I posted here on the 22nd that it was fixed (no sidebar and no double posting) except for an extra comments form appearing on the event description page. However, today, things have switched! The sidebar is back on the Calendar page below the calendar http://events.stcwdc.org/events/ and I used to have a sidebar on my regular posts pages; now there is none. The event description page is back to having a sidebar at the bottom of the description after the second comments form. Aaaaarrrggghh! Where did one go and where did two come from?

MemberCynthia have you upgraded to 3.02 yet? Take a look at the Blog post to see whats fixed. I’m not seeing anything that looks like this issue, but lets give that a go. Now that you confirmed the plugins are not knocking anything out I’ll see if we can get some help from a developer to pinpoint the issue. In the mean time try the new release and let me know what happens.

ParticipantThe problems came back after I updated to 3.0.2 and 3.0.4. It must be in one or more templates either in my child theme or in the update.

ParticipantI’ve been trying out different things trying to get back to where things were on the 22nd. What fixed it then was removing the get_sidebar from the page.php template. Then all the events pages were fixed–did not have a sidebar as you designed it–but there was still a mysterious extra comment form on the event description page. My regular post pages still had the sidebar, which is what I want them to have. I have a function that makes room for the sidebar on my other theme pages.
Something in the Events Calendar update 3.0.3 / 3.0.4 seems to now be overriding my function to include a sidebar and isn’t allowing the extra room to let the sidebar come to the top of the page for my regular posts–the sidebar is there but it is now dropped below the content.
So I guess what I need is a new function that ignores the events calendar takeover of the other templates and allows my regular post pages to have their own layout. My function that used to work for the single and page templates is at http://snippi.com/s/o8p0i7c -
