ParticipantHELP and yes I know its Christmas
But the single event permalinks should be like this http://www.efthelps.com/eft-courses/eft-part-one-january
And they are showing like this so people are getting 404s when they click on an event http://www.efthelps.com/eft\-courses/eft-part-one-january/
What do I do?
I’m not a developerHappy Christmas

ParticipantOk, it works if I change the single event url slug to ‘courses’ not ‘eft-courses’ so that there are no 404s on the site itself. But now people will get 404s from external links. So I really need it changed back to ‘eft-courses’
when you folks are back at work please help me to sort this out

Moderator@Gwyneth – I noticed you and @martin were experiencing similar permalink issues which I was unable to replicate on my test environment. Try flushing your permalinks under WordPress Settings > Permalinks. Hit “Save Changes” and check your eft-courses page to see if the permalinks are displaying correctly.

ParticipantI flushed the permalinks when first found problem

flushed permalinks
single event url still 404 http://www.efthelps.com/eft/-courses/eft-part-one-january/
changed slug back to coursesDecember 28, 2015 at 3:00 pm #1047548Gwyneth Moss
ParticipantThe events url slug is fine with a hyphen, I use eft-training and that works
Its the single event url slug that is causing the problemDecember 29, 2015 at 12:48 pm #1047910Hunter
ModeratorGwyneth,
What do you have in your “Events URL slug” and “Single event URL slug” fields found under Events > Settings > General? Have you tried reverting to the default WP theme and deactivating all plugins? Here are a few things you can troubleshoot that may be causing the issue.
Another article relative to 404 errors worth taking a look at can be found here. Please keep me posted on the status of your issue as you work through these articles.

ParticipantThere was no problem until Events Pro upgrade
I have been using Events Pro with Total theme and several plugins for 6 months no problem
No other plugins have been added, they were all happy together
Your plugin was working fine until last update
I am NOT going to do as you suggest
This is a problem with your software so do not ask me to take my site to piecesThe old settings were
Events url slug = eft-training
Single event url slug = eft-coursesSince update of Events calendar I have had to use the following settings
Events url slug = eft-training (that still works)
Single event url slug = coursesbecause if I put eft-courses then somehow an extra forward slash gets added in, see the links in my previous messages. Its something to do with having a dash (-) in the single events url slug. It doesnt like that anymore. it used to be fine.
PLEASE sort this out.
Thank you

ModeratorGwyneth,
I apologize for the frustration you’re experiencing. I just tried to replicate the problem again on my local test environment using the latest versions of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO, WordPress, and the Twenty Sixteen theme with the slug settings as:
Events url slug = eft-training
Single event url slub = eft-courses
I flushed the permalinks. I then tested to see if the single event pages were displaying 404s. They indeed did show a 404. I waited a few more moments and tried again and they worked as desired. Based on my findings, you may need to give your permalinks a minute or two to update. Your next step would unfortunately be to deactivate all active plugins other than The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO and reverting back to the default WP theme.
Please let me know if either step works. Thanks again for being patient and we look forward to getting this resolved.

Moderator@Gwyneth,
Thanks for your patience while we’ve looked further into the matter. We’ve done more testing and have seen similar issues from other users, so we’ve logged a bug in regards to this issue.
I can’t promise we’ll have a fix in the next update, but it’s a pretty serious topic so we’ll treat it as such.
Again, thanks for letting us know about the problem and we truly appreciate your patience while exploring for the conflict and finding possible resolutions.

ParticipantYes my intuition said it was a bug and nothing to do with my theme or plugins.
I changed my single event slug to – event – with no – and have internal consistency
There will still be some external 404s but new events will work
Yes this is a serious problem that some users will not have spotted it
I only realised because I check Wordfence pages not found in live trafficHappy New Year

ParticipantHi Charrame,
my temporary fix was to change my single event slug to one without the –
So I had ‘eft-courses’ and I changed it to just ‘event’
It works for me taking out the – but external links will then be 404
Christmas Eve was not a good time to have to sort this!
Tribe have recognised it as a bug now and will be on the case
best wishes

ParticipantThanks Gwyneth for the reply, althoght this is not a solution for me because of the SEO and the 404 errors.
Regards!

Moderatorcharrame,
Gwyneth is correct when she says, “Tribe have recognised it as a bug now and will be on the case” – we have logged the issue as a bug and will be addressed as soon as possible.
Thanks again for the patience on your end while we resolve the issue! Stay tuned to this thread for more detailed information for an update in the very near future.
