Thomas
ParticipantHello,
We are preparing to buy/install a new iteration of Event Calendar Pro, but are testing out Event Calendar standard at the moment. We noticed that the event page is showing a 404 error. The single event pages appear to populate just fine. We disabled all the plugins, used a default theme, and attempted to reset the permalinks but continue to have issues. Additionally, the non permalink URL failed to work as well. How should we proceed?
You can see an example of the even page here:

ParticipantWe do not have any pages with the name or slug “events”. We also tried changing the event slug with no luck either (saved permalink settings after). What’s next?

ParticipantI’m sorry to hear that neither thing helped, Thomas.
I am still not able to recreate your problem, and so with that in mind I would recommend performing the complete set of troubleshooting steps outlined here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/
After EACH STEP in that process, do the following:
• Go to Settings → Permalinks in your wp-admin and click “Save Changes” without actually changing anything to refresh the permalinks.
• See if issues persist.☝️ I know this process can sound tedious, but can assure you it moves along much faster than it sounds.
This process will thoroughly reveal if there are and theme or plugin conflicts causing these sorts of issues, which may be the case based on what you’ve reported thus far.
Thank you for your patience here!
Sincerely,
GeorgeSeptember 21, 2016 at 12:25 pm #1167073Thomas
ParticipantGeorge,
Per my very first comment, I already performed those steps. I was able to find that page and perform the steps outlined before opening a ticket. No conflict was identified through this method. What’s next?
Thank you,
Tom D.

ParticipantHey Tom,
I’m sorry I missed that detail. I admit that I am a bit puzzled here, since I cannot recreate this problem. The only other thing I can think of here is some sort of weirdness arising from the fact that you are using a subdomain — http://www.cheetah.creativeandcorporate.com
But we have no reports of issues with subdomains, and if there was a bug here we wuld likely be hearing from many customers….
In any case, I am going to bring this to our development team and see if they have any insights, while in the meantime building a test site with a subdomain so I can test to see if that’s problem.
Sorry for the trouble here, Tom—your patience means a lot. Sit tight; I will test this on a subdomain myself and see what I find!
Sincerely,
GeorgeSeptember 21, 2016 at 2:54 pm #1167158Thomas
ParticipantThanks for the reply George. I can tell you that we installed Event Calendar early on. I cannot confirm with 100% certainty, but I think the event page was working fine at that time. Just at some point between then and now it went down. We have used Event Calendar Pro on subdomains in the passed. We often copy sites to dev.domain.com in order to test updates and have never had an issue.
I also confirmed that we have not modified any of the source files.
I’ll wait for your next update.

ParticipantHey Thomas,
Thanks for sharing some more details here. I have just tried to recreate the problem on a subdomain site, with no issues either.
I’m really sorry about this!
1. I’m curious — is the ROOT website at creativeandcorporate.com itself a WordPress site?
2. If so, is there any way you could try installing The Events Calendar on that site, and then seeing if any permalinks issues persist there?
Maybe there is something going on with subdomains, but not generally, only specifically with your site / server here (some specific .htaccess settings, for example).
Let me know if this is possible, and if you do those steps, what you find. In the meantime I will reach out to other folks on team, and developers, and see if we can figure out what’s going on.
Thanks,
GeorgeSeptember 21, 2016 at 3:19 pm #1167169Thomas
ParticipantYea C&C.com is our wordpress site. I can give it a try.

ParticipantI think that would be the best step here, in terms of what you are able to do from here. I will still be working on this and will post updates as soon as I have any other information on why this might be happening.
Thanks so much for your patience here, @Thomas!
Cheers,
