ParticipantI just noticed this tonight and have a moment to post, but havent fully vetted this as a bug.
When importing events from FB, the organizer is being set as the page its coming from and NOT from the listed organizer(s) as defined on the FB event itself.
This appears to be a change from when I used the orig FB importer and even EA originally.May 4, 2017 at 1:36 pm #1278823Andras
KeymasterHi @dswiese,
Thanks for reporting that. Indeed it looks a bit fishy. I’ll do some investigation and will let you knwo what I find.
If you happen to do some more testing as well, please let me know your findings.
Thanks and cheers,

Keymasterdswiese, when you get to it, could you please share with me a url with which you are experiencing the issue? Thanks!
A.

ParticipantHere ya go: http://portlandfoodevents.com/event/aviarybreakside-collab-dinner/
Orig FB event, which I added to my page (that is listed as the organizer in TEC)
https://www.facebook.com/events/192022434648496/Ideally it would list both of the hosts from FB

KeymasterThanks for sharing that @dswiese,
I’m afraid importing multiple organizers for an event is not possible currently.
I’m a bit confused at the moment.
This is what I see on Facebook:
Hosted by Aviary PDX and Breakside BreweryThis is in the Calendar:
Organizer: Portland Food EventsAfter import it should be Aviary PDX or Breakside Brewery.
Was the organizer changed on the site?

ParticipantThis originally peaked my curiosity, because my site is now the organizer for a bunch of events
http://portlandfoodevents.com/organizer/portland-food-events/ I know I haven’t manually edited.I don’t believe it was changed on the PFE site (in fact I rarely change any information on the site)
These events ARE being imported from my page (not the hosts fb page), would that make a diff?
The only setting that has recently changed for FB imports is that I had to change the Event Update Authority, due to all FB events being dated in 1970.
However, I would assume reimporting all these events would update the organizer?May 8, 2017 at 8:24 am #1280269Andras
KeymasterHello and a wonderful Monday to you,
I would need to check if there is any difference if you import it through your profile or though the event page / url itself, but I believe there shouldn’t be, because it should import the organizer of the event. If you share the url that you use for importing I can run some test and I’ll also ask around the team about this.
What was your EUA setting before and what is it now?
Thanks,
Andras

ParticipantJust getting back to this.
Here is my existing FB page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/pdxfoodevents/events/
As you can see none of these events are actually mine. They are all “added to my page” in Facebook
However, almost all of the near future ones are showing my page as the organizer in TEC.Another example on my site is http://portlandfoodevents.com/event/funky-and-sour-friday-anniversary-night-2/
You can compare the TEC listed organizer to the actual host via the FB link. This has not been edited at all, just imported and published.
My previous EUA setting was: Import events but preserve local changes to event fields.
It is NOW
Overwrite my event with any changes from the original source. Those this was the most recent setting change related to imports, I dont believe it had anything to do with this change.
It def seems to have changed during an upgrade.May 15, 2017 at 12:39 pm #1284033Andras
KeymasterHey dswiese,
I checked the import and indeed… I see what you mean.
I’ll do like Columbo and investigate a bit. I’ll be in touch shortly. Thanks for your patience!

KeymasterHello again,
I tested with an earlier version (4.3.3) of The Events Calendar and so Event Aggregator, and when I imported an event from your feed, then it gave you as organizer. Event Aggregator was launched with 4.3, so that is only 3 maintenance releases later in which we don’t make major changes like that.
So I believe this is how Event Aggregator functions at the moment, though it is definitely worth considering. I will open an internal ticket for this so our developers can take a look at it and decide how to remedy that issue.
I am going to set the status of this ticket to “pending fix” and we will update it once a fix is released, however, at this time I cannot commit to any timeframe. I’m sorry if this is not the solution you were expecting, but I’m afraid this is all I can do at the moment regarding this issue.
If you have any new questions or issues please create a new ticket and we’ll be happy to help you out.
Thanks and cheers,

ParticipantAndrás – thanks for looking into this some more.
As you may guess by my site structure, we import and consolidate a lot of FB events to TEC, and since it “just works” I probably just hadn’t noticed.I appreciate you taking it to the team to determine if a fix is needed.
If I get some time, I might even check to see if the orig FB importer worked this way, but I don’t believe I would have missed that when researching event calendar plugins. If EA made this change from the FB Importer then it seems like a major (undocumented?) change.
I will keep an eye out for further information.
Thanks,

I totally agree with you on this one. The internal ticket is done and we will definitely look into it.
If you uncover some more details, we’ll be happy to hear about them and we’ll see what can be done.
Cheers,
