ParticipantI would like to know how to get any event to stay listed until the last day of event listed.

At this time, The Events Calendar (free) nor Events Calendar Pro can do that. If you think that is something you would like as a feature I encourage you to visit our User Voice Page and either upvote an existing request or make a new request there.
You can suggest it here: http://tribe.uservoice.com.
Another idea, in case you want to delete them instead of unpublish the events, is checking out the premium version of Bulk Delete. I believe they have an addon to delete content on a scheduled basis.

Thanks for the response. Actually none of our events ever get deleted..they go to an archive. But apart from this not being possible even in events calendar pro, I am anticipating that we could have someone do additional development to make this happen for the time being, would that be right? And if so, do you have a directory of proficient developers that can code per wordpress and ECP best practice to realize this function?

I understand. When I mentioned deletion, I meant to put them in the “trash”. Please have in mind that the events are stored as a custom post type and that would be possible.
With regards to adding a developer to make this happen, I think that it is something possible to make. You may wish to consider working with a suitably skilled developer or designer who can offer the additional level of support you require. Please note that the list of developers is provided as a courtesy to our customers, and we make no guarantees of any kind regarding the listed entities.
