ParticipantHi,
Apologies for all my questions – I am now so close to a solution to my business case for both your ticket plus & calendar pro plugins. They really are superb.
I had previously posted about displaying a list of events grouped by category and you advised using the pro shorcodes
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-widget-shortcodesI am using:
[tribe_events_list category=”adult-tickets”]These are great and have allowed me to achieve exactly what i had hoped for – my only concern now is that my client wants the thumbnail for each event to be displayed (or displayed on hover over like the main calendar)
I am reallllllllly hoping this is something you can help me with.
Thank you again for all your continued support.
Regards

MemberHi Ben,
So glad we’re getting close on this!
Getting images in the list widget is totally possible. It will take a template to do it and you can read up on that in our Themer’s Guide. It basically boils down to:
- Make a copy of the modules/single-event.php file which is located at: /plugins/events-pro/src/views/pro/widgets/modules/single-event.php
- Make a new folder in your theme directory called tribe-events
- Make a new folder in that one called pro
- Make a new folder in that one called widgets
- Make a new folder in that one called modules
- Drop the copied single-event.php file in that last folder
Now that the template is in your theme, you can modify it to suit your needs. In this case, plop in the event thumbnail where you would like it to display using:
<?php echo tribe_event_featured_image( null, 'medium' ); ?>Will this work for you? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

ParticipantWow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spot on thank you soooo much – your plugins are awesome 🙂 so versatile!!
One little question seeing as the world is now my oyster with this custom PHP template 🙂
How do I find out other parameters available to use – for example I would now love to add a snippet of the event description – like the one shown when you hover over a date in the month calendar?
Thank you again

MemberSweet, glad that helped! Template overrides are pretty awesome, right?!
I think the best spot to find about the calendar’s functions is here at our documentation: https://theeventscalendar.com/functions/
We try to wrap as many things into functions as possible, so you should be able to find functions for most anything you’re looking for. For event description, however, we simply use the the same thing as default WordPress: the_excerpt()
Any other questions here about templating? Let me know. 🙂
