ParticipantHi,
Just trying to work my way round some problems and have had an idea!
Is it possible to group my events together, for example:
I have a Lesson A and Lesson B that have a category assigned “summer lesson”
Is there a way of displaying a list of all events with the category “summer lesson” – not sure if this is something wooComerce may be required for?
Also is there any functionality for showing similar events?
Thanks
Ben-

MemberGood evening Ben and welcome back!
Thank you for your idea and questions.

Great news, yes it is absolutely possible to assign categories to events and then group them together.
In order to do that, you will need to purchase an Events Calendar Pro license.
This will enable you to display events by category in widgets AND to use our awesome PRO shortcodes.
Also is there any functionality for showing similar events?
Yes, related events is also an Events Calendar Pro feature.
Let me know if that helps and if you have any follow-up question.
Have an awesome day!

ParticipantIve tried a mix of things – had hoped <?php echo do_shortcode( ‘[tribe_events_list]’); ?>
or just the shortcode
[tribe_events_list limit=”3″]
would work but no luck – I am adding this to the editor section of a page description

MemberGood afternoon Ben,
Thank you for your questions.
PS ive not used shortcodes before – do i just paste them into a page? do you have any examples i could look at?
You just need to paste the shortcode directly into a page “Visual” tab or in a text widget (provided your WordPress theme supports it).
You can see examples of what our shortcodes look like on the following page https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-widget-shortcodes/
In fact the second example in that page is very similar to what you are trying to do.
Ive tried a mix of things – had hoped <?php echo do_shortcode( ‘[tribe_events_list]’); ?> or just the shortcode
[tribe_events_list limit=”3″] would work but no luck
The <?php echo do_shortcode( ‘[tribe_events_list]’); ?> is to meant to be added to a Template file (if you want to hardcode a specific shortcode to a page template). I don’t believe this is what you are looking for.
I am not sure why your second shortcode is not working (except for the fact that your quote marks are actually mismatched).
I would suggest trying a shortcode without any parameter and see if that works. You might also be interested in reading more about shortcodes https://codex.wordpress.org/Shortcode
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great weekend,

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thanks for your help, I have tried adding [tribe_events_list] on its own but this just outputs exactly that “[tribe_events_list]” on the page i have checked that no ‘< pre >’ or other html tags are being added. if i use [gallery] this works (hidden) correctly
Do you think there is possibly an issue with my license / version of events pro – is there anything I can do to check that it is installed correctly (other than shortcodes :-))

MemberGood evening Ben,
Thank you for trying the shortcode test.
The fact that it’s still not working is very odd. But we will gladly assist you in figuring out what is going on.Do you think there is possibly an issue with my license / version of events pro
It is unlikely that the problem is the license.
The most probable causes are:
- Mismatching versions of our different plugins
- Some kind of conflict with your WordPress theme or plugins
As a first step to figuring out what is causing the issue, could you please provide me with your system information in a private reply please ?
Have a great weekend,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi Geoff,
This may be all related to me being silly!!!
Ive just been reading up and I was under the impression that my Ticket plus license had just had the event pro plugin added to it so had done nothing about adding a new license to my wordpress site.
I found that my account has now got two separate license keys (one for ticket plus and one for event pro). When i go to add the event pro license to wordpress i get an error saying “sorry, this key is not valid” (the ticket plus one is added fine and working correctly)…
Do you have any idea?
Thanks

MemberGood evening Ben,
I think you might be on to something.
Each license has it’s own license key. In other words it’s not bundled. That means that adding the Events Tickets plus does not add the Events Calendar Pro to a website, they are completely separate products.
I see that you do have an Events Calendar Pro license that is active until the end of February but it is unclear to me if that was for a different website or the one you are currently describing.
With that in mind, to help you further, I would require:
- A link to the website you are struggling with
- The system information for that website (in a private reply)
Have a great evening,
Geoff B.

MemberGood evening Ben,
Yes, it is now official.
The reason why you cannot use the shortcodes is because the Events Calendar Pro is not fully installed and activated.
Please follow the instructions found here to do just that.
Once completed you should finally have access to your shortcodes!
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!
