ParticipantHi Support,
Continuing on from this post: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/custom-recurrence-options-not-displaying/#dl_post-1084917
We’ve created a dev website: http://stjames.twkmedia.eu and have downgraded The Event Calendar plugin to version 3.0.4.
Dev feed : http://stjames.twkmedia.eu/seniorboys/calendar/?ical
Live feed : http://www.stjamesschools.co.uk/seniorboys/calendar/?icalI’ve added both calendars (dev and live ones) to my personal calendar (https://cloudup.com/cu3hfJHWmS4). The dev calendar (version 3.0.4) is in pink, the live calendar (version 4.0.5) is in purple. We can clearly see that the feed of the live site is wrong.
If you look at the first event (Individual and Class Photos) then you can see that it takes place over 2 days on dev calendar (pink) but only on a single day on live calendar (purple). I had a look at the backend and can confirm that the event takes place over 2 days (https://cloudup.com/cu3hfJHWmS4).
Basically, we think the problem with live feed is that events end one day earlier than they should (for events that take place over more than one single day).
Can you please take a look and see if there is a fix we can apply to fix the feed.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi @twkmedia,
I’m sorry to hear about this!
1. On your live site, update The Events Calendar to 4.1.0.1, the most recent version, and test its feed of events again. Any difference in results, and in behavior?
2. Can you share the system information for your LIVE site? I will take a look at the information and see if I can recreate this problem with that in mind.
3. I assume you added the outdated version of The Events Calendar to your dev site as a means of proving if these issues are with recent versions only—is this right?
If so, then I would also recommend updating the version on your DEV site to 4.1.0.1. Then, check its event feed—look for any alteration of the event times and such. If simply updating your DEV site to 4.1.0.1 produces the same event timing issues as the LIVE site, then we can narrow down the possible sources of the problem quite substantially.
Thank you!

ParticipantHi George,
Thanks for taking a look.
Sure, we’ll update to the latest version and see if that resolves. I’ll let you know. Yes, we used the outdated version of the plugin because that was the last time it worked correctly! I’ll let you know when the dev site is updated too.
Below is the LIVE site system info (please note we’ve not updated it to latest version yet at time of sending):

ParticipantHi George,
We’ve updated the DEV site to use the latest version of The Events Calendar (v 4.1.0.1) but the problem still remains.
See https://cloudup.com/cBV3GvP0u0P – the event starting on 2/29 and ending on 3/11. But in the calendar/feed the event ends on 3/10 – https://cloudup.com/cGPcsasV_wB – one day early.
Clearly the latest version also has this bug.
Thanks

ParticipantHi George,
Another update. We’ve compared the actual ics file between new (v 4.1.0.1) and old (v 3.0.4) versions, and the end date in the new version is definitely wrong.
Looking specifically at “IGCSE English Speaking + Listening Exams”, the correct date is from 12/04 to 14/04.
It’s correctly displayed with the old version but it ends one day earlier with new version.
Old version: start: 20160412 – end: 20160415
New version: start: 20160412 – end: 20160414It’s a bit confusing as it looks like the event needs to end one day later than expected
to be correct in the calendar.See https://cloudup.com/cT–FBP6iYE
Any progress from your side?!
Thanks

ParticipantHi George,
Could you please let me know how you’re getting on with fixing this bug?
Thank you.

ParticipantI’m sorry about the delayed response here, @twkmedia. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to recreate your problems and am still trying to do that; I will be roping in the help of another developer here to see if they get different results.
I’m sorry about the pace of this and appreciate your patience!

ParticipantHey @twkmedia,
I appreciate your follow-up here, and am sorry about the slow pace here.
I have indeed been able to reproduce some problems with time syncing in imports—a few smaller bugs have actually cropped up related to all of this, so I am hopeful that our next release will make some progress here. In our next release, we have some fixes related to timezones that should hopefully make a difference.
I cannot thank you enough for your patience; real sorry for the trouble here!
We could be publishing our maintenance release as soon as tomorrow, March 30—though it could be a few days behind. Stay tuned!

ParticipantHi George,
Thanks for the update. So, will you next maintenance release fix the problem we have, or just do something that could fix it?
Thanks

ParticipantHey @twkmedia, what I mean is that we have some iCal-specific fixes that COULD fix your specific problems.
I’m sorry that this isn’t a locked-in promise of a solution, however even today when I re-tested creating all of the same events dates you have issues with, I cannot reproduce the problem myself.
One thing I’m curious about is that all of your issues seem to be with all-day events. Is this correct?
Next, I’m wondering if you find any progress by heading to Events → Settings in your wp-admin and pushing the “End of Day cutoff” option ahead a few hours? Here’s the specific option I am referring to:
<a href="http://
” target=”_blank” />
Try pushing it ahead 2 hours, see if anything improves; if not, then 4 hours and see if anything improves; does any sort of progress arise from this testing?
Your patience means a lot and I am genuinely sorry about all of the trouble here. I’ve been working to try and isolate the culprit, but it’s been a tricky problem to nail down.
Sincerely,
GeorgeMarch 31, 2016 at 1:21 am #1096265twkmedia
ParticipantHi George,
Thanks for clarifying. Let’s hope that solves our problem. Could you let me know when this update is available?
We’ll give the cut-off time a try and see if that helps.
All the best.
Pete

ParticipantThe updates are available today – I hope that they and/or the cut-off time option help at all here.
Thank you so much for your patience! I still fail to reproduce your problem but we are scoping our next maintenance release, so if issues persist I will make a big point for our developers to take another look at this.
Sorry for the trouble, Pete.
Sincerely,
