ParticipantHi. Have added the Events Aggregator add-on in order to pull in events from a Google Calendar but whilst it does seem to connect to the calendar, it just doesn’t import the events – it just seems to hang there. Have also tried using an ics import but experiencing the same issue.
Please advise.
Thanks
Jamie

KeymasterHi Jamie,
Thanks for reaching out to us! I’d be happy to help you 🙂
Could you go to Events > Help >Â Event Aggregator System Status (at the bottom of the page) and take a screenshot of that page?
Regarding the Google Calendar you tried to pull events from, was it a public or private calendar?
Could you send me the .ics file so I could test it locally?
Cheers,

ParticipantHi Jeremy
I’ve taken a screenshot and attached it as requested. It is a public calendar. This is what Google descrobes as a shareable link for the calendar https://calendar.google.com/calendar?cid=djFwNHJmOTg0bmNkdTI3cDFwbm84czEybjRAZ3JvdXAuY2FsZW5kYXIuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbQ
and here is the ‘public url’ for the calendar https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=v1p4rf984ncdu27p1pno8s12n4%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe%2FLondon
Here’s the same calendar in ics format https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/v1p4rf984ncdu27p1pno8s12n4%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics
Is that all OK or did you need anything else. Happy for you to have access to the site so you can look at it directly.
Thanks for your help with this.
Jamie

KeymasterHi Jamie,
Thank you for your screenshot and your links.
Well, I successfully imported your calendar (by importing the ics file and also by connecting to Google Calendar), so the problem doesn’t come from this file.
I noticed you don’t have the latest version of WordPress installed. Could you update from 4.9.5 to 4.9.7, and see if that makes a difference?
If not, it might mean there’s a conflict somewhere on your website. Did you try to deactivate all plugins (except for The Events Calendar) and switch back to the default theme (Twenty Seventeen), following our documentation about testing for conflicts?
Please let me know how it goes,
Cheers,

ParticipantHi Jeremy
We’ve upgraded to the latest version of WordPress and fully tested for plugin conflicts – no apparent issues. Perhaps you could have a look yourself?
Login details to follow.
Thanks
Jamie

MemberHi there!
Sorry to hear you’ve continued to experience difficulties.
Like Jeremy, I find I can’t replicate things locally and when I look at the import records on our Event Aggregator server I can see it is successfully fetching events and is sending them back to your own site, ready for the actual posts/events to be created.
Based on that, whatever the problem is, it seems to be one that is localized to your WordPress installation. We did just ship some further fixes (and adjustments were made to the EA client code) … to that end, can I ask you to update The Events Calendar to our latest version?
If you could also install and activate Transients Manager, wipe all transients and try again that could be worth a shot.
Can you give that a go and let me know if things start to work?
Thanks!

ParticipantHi Barry
I’ve updated EA and added the Transients Manager plugin and cleared transients but still no joy. Same problem. I have noticed that when add an import, the progress bar never completes and no events show as being imported unless your fetch for a preview. Could it be anything to do with the cron and our hosting? I have raised a ticket with our hosting company but I wondered if setting up a cron job on our server would help. I’m guessing not as we don’t seem to be able to perform a manual import. Interested in your thoughts.
Jamie
PS I’m heading to the school tomorrow to take them through how to update their new website. Not ideal.

KeymasterHi Jamie,
EA scheduled imports can be made more reliable and regular if a customer configures a cron job. However, if manual imports aren’t working at all, that likely won’t address the issue…
Because you can’t perform manual imports either, I wonder if the problem doesn’t come from your server or you PHP version. Do you have a staging website? If so, it would be interesting if you could try to duplicate your website with a more recent version of PHP.
Please let me know how it goes,
Cheers,
