I think that it is clear that the Facebook privacy policy causing The Event Aggregator to not import events from Facebook is here to stay. It is also clear that the vast majority of Modern Tribe customers purchased the Event Aggregator to be able to import from Facebook events that they did not create. Consequently, the only issue to be determined is what recompense policy does Modern Tribe intend to implement. What is that policy?
April 24, 2018 at 5:49 am #1514594Jaime MarchwinskiKeymasterHi Andrew,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
As you know, Facebook recently announced a range of changes (https://newsroom.fb.com/news/2018/04/restricting-data-access/) to their APIs (the protocols we use to ‘speak’ to their servers and retrieve event information) which are having an affect on a number of our users.
We are currently figuring things out as they continue to evolve with the Facebook Privacy Policy. For now, the best places to check in on the status of our plugin’s access to Facebook are https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/ea-fb-privacy-policy/ and https://theeventscalendar.com/event-aggregator-status/.
If you are still interested in a refund, you can fill out the refund form https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/refund-policy/.
We really would like to work with you on this. Would you be interested in a license for the remaining time for one of our other plugins instead of a refund?
Let me know your thoughts!
Thanks,
Jaime

highlight that Modern Tribe has a PR problem as much as a technical
problem. You need to stop pointing people to the aggregator status page
and, instead, prepare a statement about where you are technologically in
solving the problem with FB, efforts being made to work around the problem
(i.e., having the Event Aggregator work better with URLs so that people do
not have to rely on FB events, but rather can get the info directly from
the source) and how you might address refunds should you not be able to
improve the Event Aggregator. You have some quality products, but people
will get a sour taste about Modern Tribe and its products if you do not
tackle this issue head on. Indeed, it may already be too late.April 25, 2018 at 4:14 am #1515568Jaime MarchwinskiKeymasterHi Andrew,
Thank you for your feedback. We are doing the best we can to adjust to the situation as it has unfolded and are currently working on figuring out what our next step will be.
We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
Please let me know if there’s anything else we can do for you!
Thanks,
Jaime
