ParticipantHere’s the message I got:
Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas01_data02/39/2212939/html/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/functions/template-tags/venue.php on line 97
Couldn’t get onto my site at all, had to disable all Events Calendar plugins and add-ons (I have Calendar, Pro & Community Events)
Thanks.

MemberGood evening Michael and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the fatal error you have experienced while updating our plugins.
I would love to help you with this topic.First, let us apologize for any inconvenience that this might have caused on your site.
We have just released some patches for the Events Calendar and Event Tickets plugins.
The ultimate fix is to download the latest update (4.3.1.1) and make sure the updated plugin gets activated before any other plugins of our suite.
If the error in question is stopping you from accessing your website dashboard (/wp-admin/), you need to find a way to disable our plugins temporarily.
To do so, you will need FTP or File Manager (via CPanel) access:
- Find the following folder on your installation: /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/
- Rename it to something like /wp-content/plugins/z_the-events-calendar/
This will deactivate the plugin and let you access your dashboard again.
Once you do, you can revert the name change back to /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/ , the plugin will stay deactivated.
You can now update the plugins to the latest version and reactivate them.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantGeoff, thanks. I updated the plugin, reactivated the Events plugins and got the same error message.

ParticipantGeoff, I was able to re-activate the main Events Calendar plugin, but the same error popped up when I then tried to add the Pro and Community add-ons.
Are you guys preparing updates for those, too?
In the meantime, I used to have a nice-looking calendar on the site, but now I just seem to have this list of recent events. Is it possible to get that calendar back? Thanks.

MemberHey Michael,
I am sorry to hear about that!
I apologize for the delay, as we are closed on weekends.Normally the messages should all be gone provided you have:
- the Events Calendar 4.3.1.1
- the Events Calendar Pro 4.3.1.1
- Community Event 4.3.1
So if the message is still there, with your permission, I would like to log in and look (not touch).
As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Finally, in the meantime, another solution (not ideal) would be to downgrade your plugins: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/downgrading-plugin-past-version/
Hang in there as we figure this one out!
Best regards,
Geoff B.

ParticipantThanks, Geoff. I have Events Calendar 4.3.1.1 and Community Event 4.3.1 but I do not have the Events Calendar Pro 4.3.1.1 version — I have 4.3.1. I am not being prompted to update the plugin. Where do I go to get the updated version? Do I need to delete and re-download? Attaching screenshot from plugins area.
