Madeline
ParticipantHi!
I’m using Events Calendar Pro and the Elementor Page Builder. Unfortunately, when I use a tribe shortcode with Elementor, it doesn’t show up on the front-end. I know that Nico (MT Support) helped someone else with an Elementor related issue by giving them some code to include in their functions.php. I don’t have quite the same issue as that user, but I’m hoping that someone can help me out!
The other post is here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/event-list-still-not-in-the-pro-version/

MemberHi Madeline!
Thanks for reaching out to us! 🙂
I’m sorry for the delay here. We usually try to respond back within 24-48, but we’ve been having a higher demand in our forums which caused us some delays.
Let me help you troubleshoot that issue.
Your issue seems to be different than the one Nico answered. Could you please let me know which shortcode you are using? I’m not really familiar with Elementor, so could you please send us a screenshot of where you are placing the shortcode with Elementor?
What do you mean when you says it’s not showing up? Is it showing the shortcode text? Could provide us with a link to the page where it’s not showing up?
Thanks,
VictorJune 16, 2017 at 3:50 pm #1299415Madeline
ParticipantHi Victor- thanks so much for the response!!
I attached a screenshot of where I add in the shortcode in the back-end of elementor. As you can see, it shows up ok on the back-end, but then it disappears when I publish the page. It looks like nothing is there at all (not even just the shortcode text).
The site address is: http://setup.charliescorner.com/story-time/ if you scroll to the bottom, right under where it says “Sign up for Charlie’s Story Times” is where the shortcode is.
Oh, and the shortcode I’m using is: [tribe_events category=”story-time”]
Thank you again for your help!

MemberHi Madeline!
Thanks for coming back with all that information.
This seems to be a conflict with a theme or plugin. It might actually be the elementor plugin, but to make sure of this, could you please go through the complete steps in this guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ and let me know what you can find in the process?
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Victor,
Yup- I know it’s a conflict with the Elementor page builder (I tried switching to 2016 theme and it showed up fine). I’m hoping that there’s something I can put in my functions.php to “force” it to show up in the front end? Fingers crossed that you can help me with this!
Thank you!!!!!

MemberHi Madeline!
Thanks for coming back with what you’ve found so far.
If you switched to 2016 theme and and the calendar showed fine using the elementor plugin, then it means there might be a conflict with your theme.
Just to confirm, could you please try using the shortcode with your theme active, but without using the Elementor plugin and see if it works?
Let me know about it.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Victor,
Sorry- my bad! I combined Elementor and my theme in my head!
Yes, when I use the shortcode with my current theme, but without using Elementor it works fine. I have a few pages where I do that (http://setup.charliescorner.com/author-and-illustrator-events/), but then I can’t do all the cool design stuff I do with Elementor.Thank you!!

MemberHi Madeline!
Thanks for clearing that out! 🙂
I tried the Elementor plugin myself and I could make use of the shortcode by adding a “Shortcode” element.
Could you please tell me which is the element your are using?
Also, is it possible for you to use a different shortcode that is not from our plugins? Does it work?
Let me know about it.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Victor,
Thanks for the response and for trying it out yourself!
I’ve tried using the shortcode element, the text element and the WP text element and I can’t get any of them to work. Other shortcodes work fine. The two shortcodes that I’m trying to get to work are [tribe_events_list] and [tribe_events]. Strangely the shortcode [tribe_mini_calendar] does work. Finally, it does show up fine when I’m actively editing the page in Elementor but disappears when I publish the page.
Thank you!!!

MemberHi Madeline!
Thanks for clearing that out! Let me tell you what I found so far:
- Using the Shortcode element, I could make all of them work both in preview and page.
- Using the Text Editor element, it does not show up in preview but does render on page.
- Using the WP Text element, it does not show up in preview but does render on page.
I’m using Elementor version 1.4.9 and Twenty Seventeen theme.
I think there are many variables involved in this scenario, so perhaps you could try creating different pages for each of the elements and shortcodes. But do so in a default theme and using only our plugins and Elementor. If you experience any issues in that scenario, then let me know and please share a link to those pages so I can take a closer look and see if I can spot any issues.
I also noticed you are using the Elementor Addon Elements plugin. I’m not sure what it does, but it could be worth deactivating it to see if any difference.
I’ve also found this article that could be useful as a reference on using shortcodes with Elementor > https://docs.elementor.com/article/72-shortcode
I hope that helps you spot the problem! Let me know how it goes.

ParticipantAAAA!! It was Jetpack causing the issue, not Elementor!!! I deactivated Jetpack and now the shortcodes show up fine! Sorry! Any idea how to overcome the Jetpack issue? Or should I just ditch Jetpack?
Thank you for your help!!!!June 22, 2017 at 8:09 pm #1302083Victor
MemberHi Madeline!
Glad to be of help here! Well done finding out the problem was with Jetpack.
If this issue only happens when using shortcodes with Elementor and also having Jetpack, it would indicate to be a conflict between those plugins.
So, you should really get in touch with Jetpack and/or Elementor support to see if they can help you overcome that issue. Both of them might be interested in solving any incompatibility issues they may have.
I really hope you can get everything working smoothly as expected 🙂
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
