Israel bar association – Center District
ParticipantHello,
I’d like to edit the design and appearance of the events calendar pages.
1. though I went thro all of the relevant results I could find – I do not understand where are the CSS files for the templates located (rather then php)
for example:
i’d like to remove the gap (marked in blue in screenshot) – where do I find this setting?
on the top left there’s a strange yellowish box – how do I remove it?2. I’m using avada and fusion builder, which to my understanding supposed to be able to edit the events calendar pages, but I can’t seem to find such – is it at all possible? and if yes – how?
3. when trying to switch to list view I get a 404 error
thanks

MemberHi there
Let’s start with the list view. That really should be working.
Can you start by going through our Testing for Conflicts Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/? I am wondering if you might have a plugin or theme conflict. Begin by deactivating all other plugins, using a theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/, and see if the issue still persists. Also, double check for any other updates available (Dashboard » Updates).
Please let me know if the issue still persists after these tests.
Next up: CSS
- Start by modifying what you can at Appearance » Customize » The Events Calendar.
- Typically, don’t change the theme or plugin’s css files, they will be overwritten on updates. To avoid this, follow the steps outlined in Themer’s Guide
- Use overriding CSS files, or add CSS to your site using Appearance » Customize » Additional CSS.
- Use !important before a semicolon to override every css rule. It’s a brute force method, but works for quick fixes.
- Please check out this Customizing WordPress #2 – Using Chrome Developers Tools YouTube video in addition to our Using Chrome Developer Tools tutorial on how to easily make changes using CSS.
I’m not completely clear on what you would like to edit with calendar pages. Did you want to edit the content of individual events? That would be under Events » Events. Your theme may provide additional integration that goes beyond what we offer with our plugins that could allow you to modify the layout. I’d suggest checking in with them. Beyond that, we’re limited in helping with styling customizations, per our Scope of Support / Terms. But, you can take a look at the Themer’s Guide to create custom overrides.
Thanks

ParticipantHello Courtney,
1. I’ve already done all of these. tried changing theme, deactivated all plugins – this page still doesn’t load.
2+3+4. I am familiar with the method of how to edit a plugins CSS file, however – for this plugin I can’t find where the CSS files are located.
can I use CSS to edit appearances only via Appearance » Customize » Additional CSS ? not directly from file?5. once again, I’m familiar with this method, but prefer to use the proper file rather then go wandering about trying to figure out what effects what.
what I was trying to change is for example – if you look at my screenshot added before you can see a bright yellow box on the left – where the view filters are – it shouldn’t be there, I’d like to remove it, or at least turn it transperant.
hope the issue was more clear now.
thanks.

MemberHi
https://github.com/moderntribe/the-events-calendar/tree/master/src/resources/css should have the CSS files you are looking for. Please review the Themer’s Guide though to prevent any plugin update issues.
Thanks

MemberHi Lee
Does the list view appear after going through the conflicts testing? https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ I wonder if this is a theme or plugin conflict possibly.
Thanks

ParticipantHello Courtney,
the first thing I’ve done ofcourse was to check for conflicts.
I’ve now checked again and the list view doesn’t work in any way.
to be accurate – only the month and map views are working.
all the rest get a 404 error.if you have any ideas regarding why would be great.

MemberHi Lee
Can you test to see if this works? Go to WP Admin > Events > Settings > Display > Enable event views and just leave month activated + month as default view. Save Changes. Then select the desired view and default and re-save. Once that’s done go WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks and Save Changes.
Thanks

ParticipantHello,
once I only select month view as active the view selector is not displayed (as it should)
what I did now was –
1. Enable event views and just leave month activated + month as default view
2. go to Permalinks and Save Changesmonth view displays fine, but no option for changing view.
then I –
3. enabled list view + month view – the selector appears but when selecting list view once again 404 errornext I changed the default view to “list”
after which the list view was working – as a default, but when trying to switch to the non-default month view
once again – there’s the 404🙁
