ParticipantWe’re using Event Tickets Plus and Events Calendar PRO on a live theatre site. When using the Edit Single option to pull a specific event out of a series, existing tickets for the series are moved to the individual show rather than remaining with the series. The Move option in the ticket then allows us to move the ticket into another individual show but NOT into the series. This is the opposite of what I think most people would want: namely, the existing ticket(s) for a series should stay with the series, and a new ticket would then be created for the special show (which would be more likely to have different ticket settings than the rest of the original series).
As it is now, the ticket gets moved to the individual show, so we have to DELETE the ticket from the individual show and re-create a new ticket in the series (hopefully matching the fields to what we used before. An unfortunate side-effect is that ticket counts are then wrong, since this is technically a new ticket with no prior sales.
If I’m missing something and there’s a way to pull a single show out of a series but leave the tickets with the series, I would be happy to grumble my apologies for overlooking this.
Help…?

KeymasterHi Damron,
Thanks for reaching out!
I did some testing on my end, and breaking a single event from the series did leave the ticket with the series – the event that I broke out did not have any tickets associated with it. To do this, I went to the date I wanted to break away on the front end, and then went to Events > Break from Series on the admin bar (see screenshot).
I’m not quite sure what you are referring to when you say you used the “Edit Single” option…could you please send me a screenshot of how you’re breaking the event out? Also, could you try breaking an event from the series the way I described and see if you get the same result?
Thanks,
Jennifer

ParticipantAha! That’s the ticket! (No pun originally intended.) Thanks, Jennifer.
When I take steps as you describe (actually Edit Event > Break from Series rather than Events > Break from Series), it works just as I would expect. I generally tend to avoid using the WordPress admin bar; I was editing everything from the WordPress interface (when logged in as an admin). From there, I was selecting Events > Events (from the menu at the left), then editing a series or an individual ticket from the Events list. To split a performance from a series, I was selecting the Edit Single link as shown in the image that I am hopefully attaching.
I suspect that the intent of the Edit Single link is the same as the Break from Series command you pointed me to and that this is a deprecated or forgotten method of breaking from a series that should be updated or just eliminated.
For now, I’m a happy camper, and I can do what I need with much less pain given your insight.
Thanks again.

KeymasterHi Damron,
I’m glad to hear you were able to get it working this way! Thanks for sharing the screenshot – I did some testing using the Edit Single link, but I still was not able to recreate the issue. I would recommend making sure that you’re running the latest versions of all of our plugins (you can see what they are by going to the Downloads Page in your Modern Tribe account). If you are on older versions and don’t see prompts to update in the Plugins section of your WordPress Dashboard, you can update manually by following these instructions.
Since this thread has been marked “resolved”, I’ll go ahead and close it out. Please feel free to open a new one if you have any further questions or run into any other issues!
Thanks,
Jennifer
