I updated venues (and deleted some old ones). Now when I duplicate an older event, it won’t sync with eventbrite because it says the venue is missing. But it actually has a second venue (starts blank) above the one that was previously there.
I have a feeling this is because the old venue associated with the event was deleted. Is there a way and go through and purge all the deleted venue associations from the previous events, or is there another work around? In general the issue of templating or having some other way to duplicate events and give them slight variation is one of our biggest pain points.

Reporting the same issue as: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/eventbrite-plugin-asking-for-venue-and-valid-address/April 17, 2017 at 4:55 pm #1270869Geoff B.MemberGood evening Ben and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the duplicate venue issue you are dealing with.
I would love to help you with this topic. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this glitch.
We are actively working on a solution for this.I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed, as it’s in the development team’s hands now.
They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release. The good news is that you will be contacted as soon as a fix is available.
Thank you for your patience as we see this through. In the meantime, if you have not already done so, you could:
- Try using the “Merge duplicate venue” button under Events -> Settings -> General to see if that helps
- Try deleting the Eventbrite event altogether from the WP dashboard and reimporting it
- Look at the Venues menu to see if there are any traces left of those deleted venues
- Look at the link to the “previously deleted venue” and get it’s ID. You could then use the following snippet in the functions.php file of your theme (without the PHP tag at the top): https://gist.github.com/GeoffEW/78ca31b32fb5103cede7a884b7249875. Please make a DB backup first.
Best regards,
