Do you have to re-purchase The Events Calendar PRO every year?

The website says $65 for Personal — Get updates & support for a year on 1 site.

Does that mean that the PRO license expires after 1 year? Or just the support?

I don’t mind paying $65 as a one-time fee to gain access to certain functionality (like recurring events), but I probably won’t pay $65 per year over and over again for this feature.

Thanks for the interest in Pro.

Yes the license is for one year of updates and support.

The plugin will still work after the year even if you do not renew, but then you no longer get any new updates or support.
