ParticipantHi, I have some of my calandar events displayed, as a picture with date, on the front page. I do this with some add in code ‘showathome’. This is then displayed under highlights on the front page, rather than displaying all the events. It enables me to select which events i want shown on the front. Its been working well for a long time but with recent upgrades it automatically deletes expire/old events which is BRILLIANT – so no complaints there – but the forward range seems to have shortened. ie if i want to put an event for dec it wont display. The plugin settings seem to only show the current month. How do i change these settins to allow for events 1 month into the future whilst still keeping the awesome function of not displaying old events?

MemberHi @ckas, and welcome back to the forums. 🙂
That’s interesting! How does the showathome code work? That’s not something that comes right out of the box with the calendar and I’m honestly unfamiliar with it. Is it a custom feature that you wrote or that was provided by your theme or another plugin?
Our Events Calendar PRO plugin (which I see you have) includes widgets that would enable you to display either a list or month view of upcoming events, but I haven’t seen anything like the Event Highlights section on the homepage of your site. Can you tell me a little more about how it was created? We’re not always able to solve issues related to custom development, but I’ll certainly do my best to at least point you in the right direction, if I can.
Thanks!

ParticipantHi geoff, i wrote to my IT helper and she said she didnt create the feature. It looks like its part of the event plugin under ‘custom field’. The drop down box has options: embed, layout, postion. showathome etc etc. She said i might want to send u index.php? She said there is a section to retrieve events and its output has restrictions – doesnt include the event that is not oct/nov but that restriction is not visible in the code.

MemberHello @ckas and thanks for following up!
The “Custom Field” options you have there are definitely custom in the sense that they are not included with The Events Calendar or Events Calendar PRO right out of the box. Is it possible someone else has worked on your site? For example, was the theme built from scratch or was it originally purchased and customized from there?
For example, index.php is a part of the theme rather than the plugin, so that leads me to believe the customization stems from there.
Sorry, not trying to push the buck onto someone else–it’s just tough for us to troubleshoot code that we’re unfamiliar with.
Thanks!

Participantyes was built from scratch. The designers no longer build websites and i get fiverr girl to help. Whats confussing though is that i used to be able to post events months in advance and recently this has changed. The only variable is updates eg calandar. No changes have been made to the code, cheers

MemberHi @ckas,
I would wager that the custom development was based on things that have deprecated in the latest version of the calendar. You may be able to restore your functionality by reverting to your previously installed release–or work with your new developer to update the custom development for the latest releases.
Either way, we do have a list of customizers if you are looking for additional help.
I’ll go ahead and close this thread since it seems we’ve been able to pin this down to custom development, but do please feel free to start a new thread if any other questions pop up and we’d be happy to help.
Thanks,
Geoff -
