June 13, 2016 at 7:58 am #1126101CTCParticipant
Hello,
The changes I am making in the display tab of Event Settings are saving. I noticed this first when I tried to make changes to the “HTML before event content” section. When I removed the previous content and added new content, the changes showed on the web page, but not on the display tab. Then eventually, the web page reverted to the previous styling.
I have made changes to the display tab before and these changes have stuck. I can’t think of anything I’ve added in the meantime to affect the Events Calendar. I am using the X Theme, the Events Calendar Pro and the Events Calendar Pro: Filter Bar. I am also using Wordfence, which includes a firewall, could that effect it?
How can I make changes to the display tab and have them save?
Thank you,
-BenJune 13, 2016 at 8:04 am #1126109GeorgeParticipantSorry to hear about this, @Ben!
I just tested this out on my own site and found no issue with the display settings.
You mention your theme and the WordFence plugin as possible culprits here—this could be the case, but to investigate a bit more closely first, can you post your site’s “System Information”? Here’s how to do that ? https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Thank you!

June 13, 2016 at 2:58 pm #1126345GeorgeParticipantThank you for posting this!
Since your plugin versions seem all up-to-date, the best step from here would be to try activating a default theme like Twenty Twelve or Twenty Sixteen.
With this theme active, try saving some settings; does anything change?
If not, then proceed with the rest of the steps on this page ? https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/
After each step on that page, try saving the settings and see if anything improves.
Let us know what you find!
Thank you,
GeorgeJune 13, 2016 at 4:36 pm #1126427CTCParticipantI tried all of these steps, installing Twenty Sixteen, disabling all plugins, re-installing my current theme, adding plugins one by one. The same problem persists, that I cannot make changes to anything in the display tab of the Events settings. I can make changes to other tabs, but not that one. What should I try now?
Thank you,
BenJune 13, 2016 at 5:11 pm #1126444GeorgeParticipantHey Ben,
I hate to make to be nit-picky here; apologies if this seems trivial! But I notice in your language that you refer to “installing” and “re-installing” the themes…
To be clear, I am not saying to uninstall, re-install, etc. any themes. The important thing is to “activate” the Twenty Twelve or Sixteen theme, and then test the settings again.
I am sure this is what you meant! And am really sorry if you did—but just wanted to be clear about this detail, because I am still unable to reproduce the problem so it still seems likely to me that it’s a theme or plugin code conflict issue.
Sincerely,
GeorgeJune 14, 2016 at 6:25 am #1126651CTCParticipantHello, yes, you’re right. I did not uninstall my theme, I deactivated it. I did have to actually install the Twenty Sixteen theme to test it. And then I deactivated it and tested again.
Where should we go from here?
I think the last resort solution is to disable PHP code snippet that adds the ‘HTML before event content’ to the page. And then somehow pass the desired code into the php template somewhere else. I’d like to avoid that, as I’d like to be able to quickly change the HTML code above the event content. I also want to change the display setting to remove the ‘container’ from the page, and this is done on the same unresponsive display tab of the events calendar settings.
Thanks,
BenJune 15, 2016 at 7:21 am #1127279CTCParticipantHi George, any suggestions on where to go from here??
June 15, 2016 at 1:58 pm #1127562GeorgeParticipantHey Ben,
And then I deactivated it and tested again.
☝️ What did you find when you did this test?
Please be sure that you activate the default theme, then test the settings again. If this does not help, then LEAVE the theme active, the default theme, and then also deactivate all plugins except for these ones:
• The Events Calendar
• Events Calendar ProPlease note that no uninstalling/installing is mentioned or recommended here. I’m only talking about deactivating plugins, and activating a theme.
Sorry for the drawn-out process here; I just want to make certain these tests are performed accurately, because I cannot reproduce your problem. 🙁
Thank you!
GeorgeJune 20, 2016 at 7:01 am #1129233CTCParticipantGood Morning George,
The result of the above test was that nothing happened. I activated the twenty sixteen theme, deactivated all plugins except for The Event Calendar and The Event Calendar Pro, and attempted to make changes in the display tab. I was unable to make these changes, the problem persisted.
Would access to the admin panel help you? I need to resolve this.
Thank you,
BenJune 20, 2016 at 10:31 pm #1129654KarlosGuestI can confirm I have this exact same issue, happy to provide any additional information if required.
June 21, 2016 at 9:04 am #1129863GeorgeParticipantHey Ben and Karlos,
Thank you for your patience here. While this bug is hard to reproduce, and I, for example, do not produce it, other members on our team have and we have a fix for this bug coming very soon.
Stay tuned! I will update this thread with more information on the fix and will post when it is released.
Sincerely,
GeorgeJune 23, 2016 at 6:21 am #1130862CTCParticipantThe latest update of Tribe Events seems to have fixed this issue. Thank you for your help.
June 23, 2016 at 8:52 am #1130931GeorgeParticipantExcellent! I’m glad to hear that this fix worked as intended.
Thank you for your patience, @Ben.
Karlos—since this thread was opened by Ben originally, and he reports a resolution, I will close this thread for now. If you have further issues, comments, questions, etc., feel free to open a new thread any timE!
Sincerely,
George -
