Development/staging site

I use a development/staging environment for my wordpress site and I need to confirm that this plugin will function in the staging environment as well as on the live site.

The plugin works without a license key installed. The license key is just to get automatic updates. Some people enter the license key in the Staging site so they can test the update there, then push Staging to Production.

Please clarify any missing pieces we’re not accommodating for your workflow.
