Jeanine McAdam
ParticipantHi:
I have created a custom recurring event so that the event appears on the calendar every 3 days. It’s working except for the recurring events that appear after the first entry. The first entry is correct. It covers the time frame I want. The next occurrence is outside of the time frame. The one after that – even further outside the time frame. In the custom setup I did indicate will end on 4/19/16 – however I’ve got the recurring events showing dates in May.
Thanks. JeanineApril 1, 2016 at 8:23 am #1096970George
ParticipantSorry to hear about this, Jeanine!
To help investigate, can you share three pieces of information with us? They’re as follows:
1. Your “system information”; learn how to share that here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
2. A screenshot of the “edit event” screen that shows exactly how you’ve set up this recurring event. You can do so by uploading the screenshot to Imgur.com, Flickr.com, CloudUp.com, or any similar image-hosting site; then just share the links to those images here and I’ll take a look. To be clear, I mean the “Time & Date” section of your event-creation screen. Here’s an example screenshot of what I mean → https://cloudup.com/cuwE10rNFJT.
If you could share that same type of screenshot for your recurring event here, that would be very helpful.
3. And finally, can you confirm if you have issues with other recurring events on your site? Or is this event the only problematic one?
Thank you!

ParticipantHi George:
Yes – this problem is happening with other recurring events. We stopped using that feature because it wasn’t working. With this event I decided to contact you folks because I’d like it to work properly for us. Recurring events were one of the reasons we purchased the Pro version.
Here is the Flickr link https://www.flickr.com/gp/140248328@N08/587U7r
Notice how I’m making the recurring event 3 days apart – yet they are piling up on each other in the calendar at the top. I want the March 30th one to disappear and the April 2nd to appear but I only want April 2nd to go through April 18th not the 21st. When today is over I want April 2nd to disappear so that April 5th (through April 18th) can slowly move up the calendar. It’s on the third page right now – but that is good.
I’ve included the settings screen. I watched your video on You Tube and still can’t figure out how to make it work.
Thank you!

ParticipantHey Jeanine,
Thank you for this information!
I took a look but found that the “system information” you shared was just an image, not the text itself, and it was only a cropped image of the information—not the whole thing.
Sorry to add another step here, but to help my investigate, can you please copy and paste the full, un-edited text of that System Information into a reply here on this thread?
Thank you so much—sorry for the trouble here!

ParticipantIt’s no problem at all, apologies for not clarifying that to begin with! And for the extra step. 🙂
I’m glad I requested the information, though, because I notice that your site’s versions of both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro are a bit out of date. They’re running at version 4.0.5, when the current version for both is 4.1.1.
We’ve made a lot of improvements in the 4.1.x releases compared to the 4.0.x releases, so the first thing I’d recommend doing here is updating both plugins to 4.1.1.
Now, regardless of plugin versions, I took a look at your “event recurrence” screenshot in the meantime and found that your configuration is, unfortunately, not possible. This is your configuration:
This will not work because here’s what that configuration is essentially saying:
• Make one, singular 19-day event that starts 3/30/2016 and ends on 4/18/2016
• Repeat this 19-day event every 3 days.
• But end this pattern on 4/18/2016, when the first instance of this 19-day event ends.Do you see what I mean by describing it this way? You’re essentially creating one element that starts on 3/30/2016, ends on 4/18/2016, and recurs every 3 days but not after 4/18/2016. So…there is no room to recur!
I hope that information helps. 🙂
Thank you for your patience here,
GeorgeApril 4, 2016 at 8:47 am #1097922Jeanine McAdam
ParticipantHI George:
Just updated the plugin. I don’t completely understand what you are saying about the event.
Can you tell me how to set this up.
I want this event to start on 3/30 (drop off after 3/30 passes)
Appear every 3 days (again – drop off once the day passes)
Then end on 4/18
Thanks!
JeanineApril 5, 2016 at 1:01 pm #1098573George
ParticipantSure—your recurrence information is mostly set up, you just need to give the event a start and end time on the same day.
So, keep your recurrence information, but make the event start some time on 3/30.
Then make the event END some time ALSO on 3/30.
(If the event is all-day long, then just check “All day event.”)
Then your recurrence will work as expected.
I hope this helps!
