As you can see, my custom field URL is not displaying the link properly and I don’t understand why. It’s displaying the anchor tags, and I do not have the anchor tag in my field. I imagine because it’s displaying this way in error, is also the reason it’s not clickable.

It’s the code that is displayed under the custom field labeled “Syllabus”

    Hi Heather,

Thanks for reaching out on this! I’ll help you out on this.

Can you check that the field is indeed a URL field in ‘WP-Admin > Events > Settings > Additional Fields’? If this is correct and you are just imputing the URL in the field it should auto-generate the link. I’ve just run a quick local test and this should be working fine with the latest version of the plugin – 3.12. Are you running this version?

Can you please follow the steps described in our Testing for conflicts guide? This way we can see if this is a problem in our plugin or a conflict with the theme or other installed plugins.

Please let me know about this,
    Best,
    Nico

Yes, I’m attaching 2 screenshots and my system status from woocommerce. I’ve deactivated plugins and switched theme. No fix on my end.

    Hi there Heather,

Thanks for getting back to me with such a detailed reply.

I must admit I’m not sure about what’s causing this but a similar issue was solved today. So please try the solution provided here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/html-shows-as-text/#post-1003968 – I hope it works for you as well!

Please try it out and let me know,
    Thanks,
    Nico

I have the same problem — this is new, so I’m thinking its a bug that might have been introduced either with the latest update to the plugin, or with the update to WordPress 4.3.1 —

I’ll try the template override that you recommended, but I don’t think its a good idea if your customers have to do template overrides to fix program bugs.

This is a NEW problem — our site has been live for about a month and and the links were working fine when the site was launched – so it is something that cropped up within the last several weeks. I just noticed it today.

    Hi Abigail,

Thanks for adding your report on this! Hopefully Brian -a fantastic dev from our team- was able to reproduce this and confirmed it’s a bug. It’s now logged into our product backloag and hopefully a fix for this will be included in the next release. I wasn’t considering it a bug because I wasn’t able to reproduce it and also because Heather’s report on this was the first to arise.

I agree with you: a template override isn’t the best solution for a bug like this one, but it will get it working till a fix for this is out. Another way to go is to downgrade the plugins to a previous version: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/downgrading-plugin-past-version/.

Please let me know if the template override works for you,
    Best,
    Nico
