ParticipantEverytime I try to upgrade the Events Calendar & Events Calendar Pro all of the styling disappears from any page created with the Events plugin such as the calendar, events, etc. All the other pages work and look fine. I have reverted back and restored to before the update to the plugin because we have a ton of events that we are promoting now so we can’t afford for the site tone broken. I have switched to the basic Twenty Fourteen theme and deactivated all the plugins except for the calendar and Pro plugins and switched back the the Church Event theme and I get the same result. It’s like the update isn’t reading the CSS sheet or something?
This is what it look like. Again I am restoring the website back now so that people can see the m events normally. Unfortunately though when I revert back, the Events don’t actually show up in my admin so I have to go to an event and then choose Edit event with the admin top menu options. That’s the only way to edit an existing event. Weird. is there a way to hire someone to look at this with me for support? I can’t have the site down with so many people out there looking at my events and registering for these events. https://www.flickr.com/photos/davisstreker/22163340984/in/dateposted-public/

MemberHi @davisstreker,
Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the trouble here with the calendar styling! Let’s figure out what’s happening here together.
I’m actually getting a server error when trying to visit your site. Is there is there a way to access the site so I can check things out? Please let me know, that would be super helpful.
Did you use any custom CSS prior to it going away? If so, where were you writing those custom styles?
Please keep me posted and I’d be happy to help as best I can!

ParticipantSorry. The website is still restoring. Taking longer than normal today. But yes, I have some custom CSS but I just created it in the dashboard under a Custom CSS area in the theme options. What would cause the CSS stylesheet to break. It only is broken on event pages, calendar pages, etc.
Sorry it can’t be viewed now until restoring is done.

MemberNo worries! Thanks for following up and letting me know the site is restoring.
Was there perhaps an update to your theme that could have overridden your custom styles? When customizing the calendar styles, we recommend putting them in a separate folder (more on this in our Themer’s Guide) to prevent any changes from getting lost.
If any styles were lost, then it was likely the result of a theme update or from putting the custom styles in a place where they could be overwritten on a plugin update. In other words, updating The Events Calendar (or any plugin from Modern Tribe) should have no impact on your custom styles unless those styles were contained in the plugin folder.
I’ll be interested to see your site when it’s back, but do either of those scenarios sound plausible to you?
Thanks!

ParticipantWell. Yes there was an update to the theme. But I haven’t used any custom CSS really for the Events area. It just uses the Tribe Events Styles for the events stuff. Web site is still restoring though.

ParticipantFor some reason the events pages aren’t pulling in the entire websites other CSS or really any at all. In firebug I can see the styles, and paths to stylesheets, but they styles aren’t being applied.

MemberHey there!
I just visited the site and it appears to be styled correctly. Were you able to resolve the issue?
Thanks,
GeoffNovember 6, 2015 at 8:51 am #1022577davisstreker
ParticipantActually. Not resolved at all. I had to restore back to my website from before I updated the plugins because when I update the two plugins it breaks the styling of the page to look like this. https://www.flickr.com/photos/davisstreker/22163340984/in/dateposted-public.
However the problem with the version I have now now is that I can’t see my list of events in the Dashboard. And there are no filters applied. It’s like a filter has been applied, but there aren’t any filters applied at all. See screenshot. https://flic.kr/p/AK2Qmy

MemberHi @davisstreker,
I’ve been trying to recreate the issue on my own test site and haven’t been able to so far. Will you please try a couple of things for me?
- Head over to Events > Settings > Help, scroll to the bottom of the screen and paste the system information in here as a private reply
- Confirm that you’ve followed the steps outlined here
That second item is particularly important. If you still see the issue in a default state of WordPress (i.e. Twenty Fifteen theme and all plugins except Modern Tribe’s deactivated), then I want to see that so I have something to troubleshoot. It’s totally fine to do this test on a development server if you prefer, so it doesn’t affect the live site. In fact, that’s a great way to go.
The other possibilities I’m weighing are:
- Mismatched versions of the plugins
- Possible corrupted files in the version being installed
- Theme or plugin conflicts
Let’s start with the two action points mentioned earlier and go from there.
Thanks!
