    Hi,
i’ve a problem on my page http://www.bythelake.ch/events/, the content of the page is not displayed.
That’s stop working just a few weeks ago.
All the settings seems to be ok, but it doesn’t work.

Should i uninstall the plugin and install it again? I’m afraid to loose every events i already have on my website.

Can you help me on that point?
    Thanks

Hey Giles and welcome to the forums! Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the trouble here.

It looks like the calendar is triggering a 404 error (Page Not Found). We have a tutorial that helps troubleshoot 404 errors on the calendar. Will you please give the steps outlined in there a shot and let me know if you see a difference?

Let’s start there and see what we find. šŸ™‚

    Thanks!

    Hi,
I forgot to mention something : it’s only this url : http://www.bythelake.ch/events/ which open on 404 error.
All the events could be open one by one.

    Thanks

Hi Giles, sorry for the continued trouble here!

    Two more things to try:

    1. Do you have any other pages that use the /events slug on your site? Please head to the Pages tab from the WordPress dashboard and make sure there are no other pages called the same thing or using the same slug.
    2. I see you are using Category Colors 4.3.4 but version 4.3.5 is available. Might be a bit of long shot, but please update the plugin to make sure everything is running the latest and see if that helps.

Keep me posted and let me know if this helps!

    Hi Geoff,
    thanks for your answer.
1- I had a page called “events”, so i deleted it.
2- I update the plugin category colors
But nothing changed, and the problem is still there : no events page…

Thank you to let me know what do you think for the next step.

Nice work, Giles! Thanks for finding that page and deleting it. šŸ™‚

Just to make sure, did you permanently delete the page, or is it still sitting in the trash? PleaseĀ delete it completely if it is still there, just in case.

Also, I see you have tried the following:

    Deactivated all other plugins? Yes
Switched to a default theme? Yes

Did you notice any difference when you did that? How about when you deactivated all other installed pluginsĀ andĀ switched to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Fifteen)Ā together?

I also notice you are using WordPress 4.0.7 but have the latest versions of most of your plugins installed. Is there a reason you haven’t updated WordPress as well?

    Thanks!
    Geoff

    Hi Geoff,
    thanks again for your answer.

1- Yes, i delete it completely
2- I deactivated all other plugins and switched to a default theme but nothing happened. The page open with the text : “oops! Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here, back to Page d’accueil”
3- I juste made the wordpress to the last version, now it’s on version 4.2.4

    That’s where I am…

Thanks a ton, Giles! Sorry this is still an issue.

The next thing I would like to try here is creating a fresh test site–this will avoid any disruption to your live site and ensure that we’ve effectively got a “clean canvas” to work with.

    • Please install a fresh copy of WordPress in a subdirectory (if you have cPanel hosting account there will probably be a one-click install to make this really easy)
    • Don’t install anything except The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO
    • Please also stick to a default theme like Twenty Fifteen–again, there’s no need to install anything else just yet!
    • Create a few events so we have some test data to work with
    • Do you still get a 404 page?

If you find you can replicate the problem under these conditions it would be awesome if you could stop and let us know so we can take a look while the site is still running under default conditions.

    Thanks for your help!

    Thanks Geoff,
i already have an other WP on the same hosting, this is the english version of bythelake.ch.
This WP (last version also) is in the folder “en”.
So, i installed the event calendar plugin + pro plugin and it perfectly worked.
You can see it here: http://bythelake.ch/en/envents

Then i really not understand what’s happen on the http://www.bythelake.ch/envents

Interesting! Are you using a plugin to manage your multilingual content, or are each of those separate WordPress installations?

The reason I ask is that there are a number of known conflictsĀ and complications with multilingual sites, so I’m wondering if that is the core issue we’re looking at.

No, I’m not using a plugin to manage the multilingual content.
Each version are separate WordPress installations.

Thanks for the additional info, Giles!

Just looking over your system information again, it looks like Photo View is the only enabled view in your settings. In fact, that URL appears to work correctly:

    http://www.bythelake.ch/events/photo/

However, it also looks like your default view is set to List View, which is not an enabled view. In that case, the calendar would produce a 404 error.

Will you please head to Events > Settings > Display, enable the List View option and save your settings to see if that helps? You may need to flush your permalinks as well (Settings > Permalinks and click the Save button) but let’s see if this helps us get to the bottom of things.

    Thanks!
