    Hi,
I have Events Pro/Tickets Plus and Woo installed and am only getting teh Paypal confirmation email when doing a practice booking. I have installed this >> Easy WordPress SMTP as I read another discussion but still don’t get an email…
Could you let me know if this is an issue? Or maybe have I set up the plugins incorrectly?
    Thanks

Not sure whether it is connected but whilst I do have events listed (which I can buy) they don’t appear in my “Shop” through Woo?

Good afternoon Kate and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear that you are not receiving confirmation emails.
I would love to help you with this topic.

To answer your second question, by default, the Tickets are hidden from the shop, so that is normal.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Secondly, could you tell me if you have tried the testing functionality of the Easy WP SMTP plugin (to see if it is able to send emails correctly).

Finally, can you tell me if you do receive a confirmation email when you purchase a standard WooCommerce product (even a test one).

Hang in there as we try to figure this out.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Good afternoon Kate,

Thank you for writing back, for running some tests and for the system information.

I think you are on the right track. It looks like your Webhost is preventing WordPress emails from being sent (which is not all that uncommon).

Yes, the Easy WP SMTP plugin should help with that. However, it needs to be configured properly (and tested – through its interface).
Simply installing the plugin will not solve anything.

I recommend reading the following: https://wp-ecommerce.net/easy-wordpress-smtp-send-emails-from-your-wordpress-site-using-a-smtp-server-2197

If your webhost does not allow you to connect to an actual email address on your sever, you can use a Gmail account instead.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Hi,
Murm, so I had put my google info in (but not tested it) maybe it was incorrect as I typed it again and the email sent… but I then got a message from google saying a “less secure app had tried to access my account” there was a link on the email to go to my google account to authorise access…. which I did and authorised… and then I got an email saying I had breached their terms of service and my account had been suspended…

    So
    1. thought I should let you know that maybe you shouldn’t be recommending the plugin? (Especially as their site forum doesn’t seem to be very supportive with multiple threads complaining and not being answered)
    2. Have you got another fix?? I use hostgator at the moment for hosting, is there a hoster that you could recommend that would let me have access to emails… or if I talk to hostgator will they be able to sort?

Thanks for all your help… I have previously told Craoline you are all amazing but now I will tell you…. I think you have amazing products, amazing customer care and all in all I think you seem like very lovely and nice people… I was really scared about building this website until I found you guys!

    Hey Kate,

    Thank you for writing back.
I am sorry to hear you ran in such a negative experience. Yikes, that’s pretty terrible!

    1. thought I should let you know that maybe you shouldn’t be recommending the plugin? (Especially as their site forum doesn’t seem to be very supportive with multiple threads complaining and not being answered)

That’s a fair point. To be fully transparent, I have used and I am still using this plugin on my websites all the time with great success.

Usually people end up using email accounts tied to their domain name with this plugin (e.g.:  [email protected]). I also know that many people have successfully used their Gmail account instead.

As much as I understand how frustrating this can be, I am not sure why that happened. Perhaps Google has tightened up it’s security rules ? Maybe there is something that went wrong in the security approval process ? (too many attempts).

It’s hard to know for sure, but I am pretty sure the good folks at Google would know.

Based on your feedback, I would definitely caution people against using their Gmail account in combination with that plugin. But I would still recommend this plugin alongside an email address tied to their domain.

    2. Have you got another fix?? I use hostgator at the moment for hosting, is there a hoster that you could recommend that would let me have access to emails… or if I talk to hostgator will they be able to sort?

The issue here seems to be that hostgator does not let WordPress send emails directly (probably because of their security policies).

The plugin I suggested (or another one that does the same thing) is the best solution and should work under any environment.
I would recommend using an email address created with Hostgator and configure the plugin to use that email address.

There are absolutely no reason why that should not work since from HostGator’s perspective, that will be like you are logging in to use the said address.

That being said, you might still prefer to change web hosts. All the web hosts I work with on a regular basis handle this aspect just fine: Media Temple, Siteground, wpengine, etc…

Let me know what you decide and if you need help setting up the plugin with an email address created with your domain name.

    Have a good week-end,

    Geoff B.

    Good evening Kate,

I’m super stoked that you got things to work on your end! Kudos on your persistance and hard work.

In order to avoid your email being perceived as spam, there are a couple of things you could do, including using SPF records (hostgator can probably guide you through that. You can find some of these tricks here: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/email/fighting-spam/stop-emails-being-labeled-spam

Is there anything else I can help you with on this ?

Have a great evening in the beautiful United Kingdom 🙂

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
