GuestHi Guys,
I have a website which I use to sell training courses. The course has two elements, a physical course which people have to book and come to a classroom to sit in and an online element which they can do as distance learning. The course is short at only 4 days and both the online and physical course take place simultaneously.
I have a theme which is WPLMS which hosts the online element of the course and takes care of payment for the whole course. I am interested in buying the event calender pro to allow potential students to book the physical course because the WPLMS theme isn’t really suitable for a physical course that has different dates and locations etc.
I want people to book a physical course (date and location) with Events Calender Pro and then be redirected to the online course delivered via WPLMS and make payment for the whole course with the WPLMS payment gateway.
I also need a confirmation E-mail once people book a physical course with the Event Calender Pro. The confirmation E-mail must contain details of the course e.g. timing, location etc for people to be able to easily refer to. I also need to include general attachments on the E-mail e.g. terms and conditions etc.
My questions are:
Is it possible to use the plugin to book the physical course and then link to the online course?
Can I edit the confirmation E-mails for the different courses and include attachments?Regards,
Zain

MemberHi Zain,
Thanks for reaching out to us and also for your interest in our products 🙂
Events Calendar PRO doesn’t provide booking functionality specifically. Our ticketing add-ons allow you to sell tickets for the events but from what you describe that’s already being addressed by the theme itself. Regarding emails, notifications are sent to buyers and you can edit the email template, not sure about attachments but you can link the terms or other useful information for sure.
Events Rocket is a handy plugin that enables a simple RSVP system -among other tweaks- for The Events Calendar, that might cover the ‘Booking’ functionality, but not sure what you need in the backend.
All this said, you can also develop a bit on top of The Events Calendar to achieve custom functionality. While this type of customization would be out of the support scope, we can always help you getting started with that.
Please let me know if this clarifies a bit the panorama,

GuestHi Nico,
Thank you for your response.
The theme that we have already does allow us to book people for our courses but the theme isn’t entirely suitable for the physical classroom based element of the course. Our theme can not facilitate a situation where we have ABC123 course running in one area and then the same course running at the same time in a different area. When people book the course there is no function to distinguish time or location of the course. Our theme is geared to an online only course which people sign up to, pay for and then access and complete online.
This is where we want the event calender pro / ticket add on to come into play. We want to use the event calender to allow people to book the physical class room based course and then use the theme to complete the online element of the course. We have not yet decided whether the theme or the event calender pro will be used to take payment for the course. If you have any suggestions as to why the event calender may be better to use for taking payment I would be interested to know.
What product/ add ons do you suggest we purchase? Is it the event calender with the ticket add on and event rocket? Would I have to pay a separate fee for all 3 plugins? Based on your recommendation I will research the product further and if suitable purchase them. I note that you have a 30 day refund policy. Is that correct?
Another question: I looked at the following ticket and was curious about a question asked by the original poster, Len. Len mentioned the need for a registration form to capture certain information for each attendee and Geoff responded that it was a feature that was not yet being offered. Could you please further clarify if that means there is no registration form whatsoever or if there is a registration form and it doesn’t feature the fields Len wanted. If the latter is the case what fields are available?

MemberHi Zain,
Thanks for following up on this! I’ll break your questions to give each a better answer:
We want to use the event calender to allow people to book the physical class room based course and then use the theme to complete the online element of the course.
Sounds right, with the Events Calendar you’ll be in a good spot to manage different locations, date-and-time and other info, for the courses. Event if they run simultaneously.
We have not yet decided whether the theme or the event calender pro will be used to take payment for the course. If you have any suggestions as to why the event calender may be better to use for taking payment I would be interested to know.
All of our ticketing add-ons rely on a different ‘e-commerce platform’, the ticketing plugin doesn’t offer a payment solution itself. So for example WooTickets, works with WooCommerce platform which comes with different pre-installed payment gateways -Direct Bank Transfer, Cheque Payment, Cash on Delivery, Credit card payments with PayPal or Credit card payment with Simplify Commerce- and also allows you to add more payment gateways via -free and paid- add-ons, like -Amazon Payments, Stripe, Authorize.Net, PayPal Pro/Advanced/Express, PayFast, FirstData, Simplify Commerce and Braintree and more. I don’t know if this is “better” than the option offered by your theme, but for sure it’s a pretty solid option.
What product/ add ons do you suggest we purchase? Is it the event calender with the ticket add on and event rocket? Would I have to pay a separate fee for all 3 plugins?
I guess you need a ticketing plugin to manage the booking of the courses, all options are valid in this case, but I guess WooTickets might be a good choice if you have no particular preference, because there are a lot of add-ons for WooCommerce platform -as it’s the most popular e-commerce plugin for WordPress-, so you’ll get a pretty solid solution but also flexible and customizable via add-ons.
Events Calendar PRO might not be necessary but adds a lot of useful features to The Events Calendar ‘Core’ version, like: additional views -week, map and photo-, recurring events, venues and organizers pages, advanced widgets and more. Be sure to check out the product page for full details.
Filter Bar add-on, is useful when you have lots of events -courses in this case- and you want to give the user advanced filtering capabilities. Not sure if this is your case but you might want to check it out as well.
Regarding Events Rocket it’s a free plugin, and at this point I’m not sure if you’ll find it super useful.
You’ll need to pay a separate fee for all plugins, and you’ll get updates and premium support for 1 year with your purchase -for every plugin of course. And yes, we have a 30 day refund policy so if you find you don’t really need one -or all- of the plugins, you can have your money back.Len mentioned the need for a registration form to capture certain information for each attendee and Geoff responded that it was a feature that was not yet being offered.
As Geoff responded this is still in development and hope we can see it out soon 🙂 Right now there’s no form at all, the only option to do this is to add some extra fields to the checkout form -via the e-commerce platform- and capture the data you need there.
Just to summarize a bit I think the best option is to try out our products in a simple test site to check if they provide the features you need -both in the back-end and the front-end of the site. After purchasing the licenses you’ll have access to our support forums, so if you have any doubts on the implementation of the plugins you can always reach out to us and we’ll be happy to help you out!
Please let me know if you still have any follow-up questions,
Best,
