    Hello,

I recently purchased the license for Community Events-I run a hyper-local blog thelakecountrymom.com and I wanted to allow for residents and event planner sin my local area the option to be able to add their events to my event calendar. Every since I purchased it has not worked. People keep telling me they are getting an error “Are you sure you want to do this?” after they type in all of there event info and hit submit. It also says WordPress Failure Notice. This is the only plugin this happens with. Can anyone please advise me on this? Is this is not compatible with my theme I sure would have liked to know that prior. Thank you. I love Events Calendar Pro and was super excited for the option to allow users to add community events. Thank you for your help!

Hi Rachel. Sorry you and your site users are experiencing this; it’s a yucky type error!

Looking at http://thelakecountrymom.com/submit-your-event/, I immediately noticed this console errorhttp://cl.ly/101M0G3W2X37

However, as the page took a long time to finish loading, it eventually ended up displaying this before I ever navigated the page: http://cl.ly/2q1N31463z1r

Once that submit-your-event page was done loading, I clicked the link to the actual Community Events form at http://thelakecountrymom.com/events/community/add and then didn’t see any Chrome Console errors — but I’d still recommend disabling that plugin or custom script or getting those issues resolved ASAP.

I tried submitting an event with as little information as possible (here’s the video — you don’t have to watch it), and I saw this is the issue: http://cl.ly/1e0M1q163d2Q

Since this isn’t the default behavior, I’m going to suggest our default troubleshoot method:

Please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.

Let us know what you find out.

    Thanks.

P.S. I grew up in the Waterford, WI area! 🙂

    Hi Cliff,

Small world! 🙂 Thanks for your help, but I went through the whole Testing for Conflicts Guide and disabled plugins and found nothing wrong. I did everything it suggested, and still get the error, that I was getting before. So does this mean that the community add on is not compatible with my site/theme? UGHHHH.

    thanks

    Rachel

Okay so meant to say once I flipped my them over to the 2015 template it worked, so that means it does NOT work with my theme? How am I supposed to know what theme it works with? This is SUPER disappointing.

    Hi. Thanks for testing.

To clarify, with all plugins deactivated and your Genesis child theme active, the issue remains — so it definitely is your theme (not another plugin) — correct?

If yes, please activate Genesis parent theme and see if the issue remains. If not, then we narrowed it down specifically to your child theme.

One thing I noticed — not that it’s the cause of the issue — is that you have a space in your child theme’s directory name: http://thelakecountrymom.com/wp-content/themes/Pretty%20Chic

You should change “Pretty Chic” to “pretty-chic” or “pretty_chic” or “prettychic” — lower case and no space is best.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Yes I am guessing it is my them then. That REALLY sucks, how am I supposed to know in the future if I decide to use a different theme, if it’s compatible beforehand? Is this possible?

Also I have no idea what you are talking about: One thing I noticed — not that it’s the cause of the issue — is that you have a space in your child theme’s directory name: http://thelakecountrymom.com/wp-content/themes/Pretty%20Chic

You should change “Pretty Chic” to “pretty-chic” or “pretty_chic” or “prettychic” — lower case and no space is best.

Thank you for telling me, but it is beyond my knowledge.

    Thanks!

Rachel, did you verify that the issue DOES NOT happen when Genesis parent theme is the current theme — NOT your child theme?

Where did you get your child theme? Is Genesis parent theme at the latest version? Is your child theme at its latest version?

As far as the renaming of your child theme folder goes, that’s something you’d need to do via cPanel File Manager or your SFTP program. You could probably add your web host to help with this. Once the child theme’s directory name gets renamed, you’ll need to go to wp-admin > Appearance > Themes and activate your child theme again.

(I’d recommend passing this renaming suggestion on to your theme author too.)

P.S. We’re taking it one step at a time so don’t worry; I’ll do my best to help you get things ironed out.
