I’m running Events Calendar PRO 4.4.7, but I don’t see the update notification on my WP dashboard’s plugin page. I did download the latest version to my local machine; can I just upload that to my WP installation even though WP doesn’t know there’s an update?

    Thanks.

PS: I have the same problem with Community Events; see separate ticket

    Hello Joseph

Can you start by going through our Testing for Conflicts Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/?ย  I am wondering if you might have a plugin or theme conflict.ย  Begin by deactivating all other plugins, using a theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/, and see if the issue still persists. Also, double check for any other updates available (Dashboard ยป Updates).ย

Please let me know if the issue still persists after these tests.

    Thanks

Sorry, I’m not going to spend all day doing that. I did see the update for Events Calendar, but not for the other two (PRO and Community Events), so if any other plugin is the problem it should have also affected Events Calendar, is my guess. But it didn’t, so I doubt other plugins are the problem here.

And yes, I know that I can see update notifications in the Dashboard. That’s how I knew to update Events Calendar.

If I just deactivate and delete PRO and Community Events and reinstall I should be ok, correct? Old school update!

    Hi Joseph

First, double check that your site has the licenses activated at Events ยป Settings ยป Licenses. You can find your’s at My Account ยป Licenses if needed. And if for some reason they are active elsewhere, Moving Your License Key can help.

You certainly can do the manual update using My Account ยป Downloads to get the plugins again. However, please do make a site backup and/or test on a staging server first.

Let me know how this goes please!

    Thanks

Thanks Courtney. My licenses are active (until May 2, 2018), but I copied and pasted them in the License keys area under Settings again anyway. But I got the message that the key validation server wasn’t available. See screenshot. That can easily cause a problem, right? Is there maybe an issue with your license key validator?

    Hello Joseph

I believe the issue might be that you are using an IP number for your web address. IP numbers can house multiple websites, depending upon how they care configured. Your license is reflected as a personal license.

Are you able to test this with a domain name option?

    Thanks

    Thanks Courtney, and happy Fourth!

I’m using a static IP because the site is still under development. It will replace an existing site on a different server, and I can’t transfer the domain name to the new site/server until I’m done working on it.

If I just copy up the new files I downloaded to replace the old ones, will I have a problem activating them because of the license key/static IP issue? I didn’t have a problem getting everything to work the first time around.

    Thanks.

    Hi Joseph

I’d really like to know if the conflicts testing guide gave you any results. Before we can proceed, we really need to determine the source of this conflict. Please disable all other plugins to see if that helps. If not, then please try a default theme.

Which files have you downloaded? The plugins? You can either delete them from your dashboard, or overwrite them by a manual ftp upload. Your data will not be lost, as our plugin stores data to custom post types within your site’s database.

Please let me know the results of the conflict tests. That should give us more information to work from.

    Thanks

Thanks Courtney. Unfortunately I’m under deadline and I have exactly
negative time to start deactivating plugins and testing new themes. I don’t
have a child theme, so trying on a new theme will be probably make a hash
of everything. So I’ll just ftp the new files up for now (for Events
Calendar Pro and Community Events). Will I be able to activate them and use
them or will the license key problem bite me?

PS: The versions I have work fine. I just want to get the updates.

    Hi Joseph

I’m stuck without more details from conflicts testing. You can deactivate and delete your plugin without losing data. Then go to My Account ยป Downloads and re-download and reinstall to see if that resolves the issue.

    Thanks

thanks Courtney, I’ll do that. As long as I have you on the phone, so to speak, I’m about to switch our site access from the static IP to a dev subdomain (dev.keypennews.com) for testing; I’ll go live with the official name, keypennews.com when we’re all tested. Will that change in site URLs cause any problems with license key/registration etc?

    Thanks

    Hi Joseph

You’ll want to change which link is on file with your licenses. You can walk through the steps on Moving Your License Key for that.

Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks
