Can't edit single event

I have a recurring event. When I went to edit a single occurrence of the event, a pop-up message said “Click her to prevent additional dialogues.” I misunderstood what this meant and click the box. Since then I am unable to edit any single occurrence of a recurring event. How do I fix this?
