Can't add events widget

Widgets don’t appear under ‘Appearance’ > Widgets on our site. The options under ‘Appearance’ include > Themes, Customise, Menus or Editor. Please can someone advise why I can’t see widgets. Alternatively, how can I add the ‘Events List’ widget to various pages throughout the site.
