ParticipantThis is a job for a brand new client on an existing and very active website. I only got into the admin page today.
So, I’m not in position to turn off current plug ins or try a default theme.
The site is, whidbeylifemagazine.org
I’ve used The Events Calendar on one other website, so I know just enough to be dangerous.
The site already had a page named “events.” (Even if it is empty)
http://www.whidbeylifemagazine.org/events/I replaced the default “events” with various combinations of words and I’m always getting, “Page Not Found.”
Under Settings–>Parmalink Settings, the setting is set to, “Post Name,” which I think is mostly okay.
The current name for the page is “Events Test.”
http://www.whidbeylifemagazine.org/events-test/The plugin is working, as a test event is showing up…
http://www.whidbeylifemagazine.org/event/an-upcoming-event/Any thoughts on what could be going on?

ParticipantHey Jack,
Thanks for reaching out.
Does anything change if you try a slug that does not have hyphens in it? Like /calendar/, for example, or even just /testing/?
After you change the calendar URL slug, be sure to do these steps:
• Head to Settings → Permalinks in your wp-admin
• Click “Save changes” without actually changing anything☝️ These steps may seem weird to do but they should help to refresh permalinks on your site, which may help.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks for the quick response, unfortunately, they didn’t help. I….
- Went to permalinks and hit save
- Changed the calendar page to “eventtest”
- Just in case, went to permalinks and hit save again
But, unfortunately I had the same result…

ParticipantHey Jack,
Thanks for confirming this.
I cannot recreate this behavior and we have no other reports of this issue, so it seems like there is a theme or plugin conflict happening on your site.
I would recommend doing the complete set of troubleshooting steps on this page → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ After EACH STEP in that process, check back on your events page and see if anything changes.
I know that you mentioned explicitly not being able to do this testing. It is the only useful next step from here, though, unfortunately. 🙁 Is there any chance you could wait for a weekend or some sort of “off-peak” time to do this testing on the live site? If you are concerned about this testing affecting any data or layouts on the site, please be sure to make a thorough backup of your site and database before doing the testing.
Please let me know what you think.

ParticipantHi George:
Sorry for the delay. I chose to clone the website to my computer so that I could “mess with things” as much as necessary.
The cloned version does show the error as described below.
So I:
Disabled all plugins except for ECP/ECP Pro and the error remained.
Re-enabled the plugins
Changed to the default theme
I finally could see the calendar along with the one test event I had entered. So, we have a theme issue. The theme is iThemes “Builder.” I had never heard of it, but in looking around, I gather it is a very flexible site building theme. So, more than a regular “theme,” I guess.
I checked the forum and didn’t find much on “Builder.” Any thoughts?
The good news is the client hates the website look, so the theme is on the ropes, the bad news is that payment is due soon on another year of their current calendar system. So, clock is ticking.
Thanks for your time and insight.

ParticipantHey Jack,
Thanks for doing all of that testing and reporting your findings here—and for your patience over the weekend!
It’s indeed true that there’s not much about the Builder theme on these forums. In regards to theme support in general, though, we can only guarantee support for themes that comply with the WordPress Theme Development Standards (https://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development#Theme_Development_Standards).
If the Builder theme deviates from those norms and standards, and breaks plugins like The Events Calendar in the process, then unfortunately the best course of action for getting those two pieces of software to work well is to contact the Builder theme team to see if they can shed light on why their theme breaks The Events Calendar’s calendar page.
I would recommend this course of action.
I cannot recreate these issues with any other theme, so it does seem to be the case that the Builder theme is the culprit here.
Please keep us posted on what you find by contacting the Builder theme team, and please let me know if there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with in the meantime.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
