ParticipantSince the Sept. 11 update to The Events Calendar to 3.12.1, the calendar is not working with my theme (MH Magazine). On the front end of the site, elements are disappearing – latest posts, slider widget, spotlight section.
Any ideas? Or can I revert to the last version?

MemberHi,
Sorry for the issues.
There is a bug in the system causing this.
There are three temporary fixes until we can get a release to fix this.
If you uncheck this setting here:
Events > Settings > General Tab > “Recurring event instances”
It will resolve the issue and show events on the home page.
The other option is to disable Events from showing in the main loop:
Events > Settings > General Tab > “Include events in main blog loop”
The third option is to downgrade all Events Calendar Plugins to 3.11 following our manual update guide:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/manual-updates/
We have created a ticket to address this in a Maintenance Release and will update you here once that is available.
Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks

ParticipantThanks for the reply, however the issue is not events appearing on the home page.
What I’m experiencing is the events calendar plugin causing other elements of my homepage (not calendar related) to disappear.

MemberOh, ok.
I looked at your site and I did not see anything that was obviously missing.
Do you load any Event Widgets or Shortcodes on the Home Page?
What is missing from the home page?
Let me know thanks.

ParticipantI currently have the events calendar plugin deactivated so that everything else is functioning normally.
When activated, you would find the top slider with five posts completely gone, and a gray empty box where the “In the Spotlight” section is. In addition, the “latest posts“ and “summer fun” sections of the homepage would be empty.
These are all widgets that are a part of the MH Magazine theme.

MemberThanks for the information.
Are any of those widgets a plugin that I could test out on WordPress.org?
Or a default Widget of WordPress?
Also, do you have this setting checked:
Events > Settings > General Tab > “Recurring event instances”

ParticipantBecause they are all widgets that came with the purchase of the theme, I would think not.
I do have the “recurring event instances” box checked.

MemberHi,
Sorry for the late reply. I hit send yesterday, but it looks like this did not send.
If you turn off this option:
“recurring event instances”
Does it help the home page?

ParticipantHi Brian – Yes! THat fixed the problem. Thank you.
Will we be able to use the recurring event instances in a future update?

MemberHi,
Yes we are finalizing a maintenance release and it will fix this issue early next week if it goes according to plan.
