    Hello!

We’re meeting a bug in the Events Calendar Pro plugin which occurs with recurring events.
Sometimes, from time to time, some recurring events appear twice for the same day, which is absolutely not correct.

    Examples:

    1) Little days out on the 27th August http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/event/little-days-out-kindy-tennis-south-bank-2/all/ (August 27 appears 2x, which should be only 1x)

    2) Queensland hobbie expo http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/event/queensland-model-hobbies-expo-redbank/all/ (August 23 appears 2x, which should be only 1x)

We’re leaving duplicates by now so you could see the issue on your own.

Please resolve the issue ASAP. Thank you!

    Hi ngaire,

Thanks for reaching out to us! Sorry to hear about the issue you are having, I’ll try to help you out getting this right ๐Ÿ™‚

I see you marked that this has been tested with default WordPress theme and no other plugins active, Can you confirm this? The behavior was the same?

Also are you seeing as duplicates in the back-end -WP-Admin- as well or just in the front-end?

Please let me know about those so we can tackle this issue,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hello Nico!

    Thanks for your fast reply!

Yes, confirm. I have double-checked it now activating a default theme (Twenty Twelve) and post duplicates remain the same.
At the back-end we also have the same duplicates: two events for the same day.

Also, I have noticed that for both examples:
    http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/event/queensland-model-hobbies-expo-redbank/all/
    http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/event/little-days-out-kindy-tennis-south-bank-2/all/
duplicates appear at the last day of event’s recurring term. I.e. at the day when event ends.

Hope, this info may help you. Please let me know if you’ll have any other questions.

    Hey ngaire,

    Thanks for the follow-up!

Ok, so having them duplicate also in the back-end indicates this is not a display (front-end) error.

Did this started after updating the plugin or making some other change to the site?

I see you have W3 Total Cache active, have you tried to flush/empty all caches? Also, Can you try and delete one of the ‘duplicates’ in the backend?

If you create a new event with some recurrent pattern does the same thing happen?

Sorry for the bunch of follow-up questions, just trying to figure out whats causing this,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hello, Nico!

“Did this started after updating the plugin or making some other change to the site?”
No, we have noticed duplicates while having previous plugin version and updated it to the latest as suggested before contacting you. I don’t remember any changes were committed to the site before duplicates arrived.

“I see you have W3 Total Cache active, have you tried to flush/empty all caches? Also, Can you try and delete one of the โ€˜duplicatesโ€™ in the backend? “
Done now using “empty all caches” button. Unfortunately, all the things remain the same.

“If you create a new event with some recurrent pattern does the same thing happen?”
No, the bug occurs with unclear behavior. We have many other recurring events, and constantly add new, but duplicates come with these two events.

No problem, please let me know if there anything else I can assist you!

    P.S:
One more thing which I have noticed and may be helpful to you:
In WP backend, wjen I view events search results list: http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/wp-admin/edit.php?s=Little+Days+Out%3A+Kindy+Tennis+|+South+Bank+&post_status=all&post_type=tribe_events&action=-1&m=0&seo_filter&paged=1&mode=list&action2=-1
There are 2 duplicate events rows for August 27, as mentioned above, both have post ID = 120349 (http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/wp-admin/post.php?post=120349&action=edit). Next event row for August 20 has also exactly the same ID: 120349! And only next row for April 23 has different ID =110819 . Maybe this info will help you some way ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey ngaire,

Thanks for the complete follow-up! I must say I’m a bit puzzled with what’s happening here, as the pattern for these errors seems to be random ๐Ÿ™

Can you try and delete one of the duplicated instances? And with the other please try to regenerate the recurrence series and see if it generates duplicates again. Hopefully this can shed some light on how this duplicates are being generated.

    Thanks,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hello Nico!

I have tried it and got some results:

With http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/event/little-days-out-kindy-tennis-south-bank-2/all/ I have deleted one of the duplicates and just re-saved the event (pushed “Update” button at event edit page). The duplicate did not come back.

With http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/event/queensland-model-hobbies-expo-redbank/all/ I have just re-saved the event (pushed “Update” button at event edit page) without deleting the duplicate. Here the duplicate dissipated itself.

Yes, the problem really looks confusing because of the random appearance behavior.
I’m not sure, but I presume we can freeze it now until we’ll get some duplicates again and well be able to track it deeply.

    Hi ngaire,

Nice to hear that was easily fixed ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel the same way towards this, without any clear steps to reproduce this gets really hard to solve.

I suggest leaving this ticket open for a week. If no duplicates appear during that time we can close it and if this happens again open a new ticket – referencing this one. Please have this under your radar and try to catch as much info as you can if it comes up again.

    Thanks,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hello Nico!
    Hello team!

The duplicate recurring event arrived again today.
    http://www.brisbanekids.com.au/event/stripey-the-eggscellent-adventures-of-an-emu-chick-redcliffe-cultural-centre/all/
You can see that it’s duplicated for Aug 18th. Again, the last date of the event occurrence.
I’m trying to collect as much info as possible for the steps that leaded to it. Please let me know if you need anything more to debug.

Just in case, once more the system info attached:
