Yes, The Events Calendar is completely flexible to customize and modify the templates to suit your needs.
For example, you can use custom CSS to change the size, appearance or layout of the calendar. We have a tutorial that offers tips and tricks for locating the calendar’s CSS classes for the purposes of customizing them:

It’s also possible to completely override any of the calendar template files for more advanced customizations. For example, you can take the template for the List View you mentioned and override it in your theme folder so that you can change the markup however you see fit.
