ParticipantWe have recently begun using TEC, and mostly like what it does (though the custom URL feature is not working for us – very klugey). In any case, we are committed.
However, the person in our organization who enters most of the events has been used to using iCal (which sync’s with Google Calendar). But using Google Calendar to sync doesn’t work for us, because when you sync, it makes all recurring events SINGLE events when it imports. This makes it then very difficult for us to then go back in and customize each event with an image, etc.
We are now committed to using this solution. The problem is that the user interface seems so awkward and clunky and…SLOW! I don’t know if there is some other more efficient way to add/edit events, but she is about to go bonkers.
One example is the fact that when you go to the “edit events” screen, it defaults to the first or last event in the system – the old events management system we were using defaulted to the current day. This is a considerable amount of effort to then navigate to the events that are current, trying to figure out which page contains this week’s events.
The other problem is just the fact that you can’t really get a very useful view of all events so you can know what’s happening when (e.g. so we don’t double-book a space), and then to edit a given event entails several clicks, and the spinning wheel of death…and then multiple open windows, etc.
SO – if anyone might address the specific concerns above – and perhaps give any tips for the most efficient way/user interface to use when entering new events or editing events – that would be most helpful. Am I missing something?
And if I were to request features:
* Easy user interface for entering/editing events (a separate dashboard that works like Google Calendar???)!!!
* At least the ability for “Edit events” screen to default to a list of events that begin with the current day….
Thanks for listening – and look forward to any advice.

KeymasterHello Jeff,
Thanks for taking the time to jot down your thoughts, ideas, and feedback. Much appreciated.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide a user interface like iCal / Google Calendar / Outlook. This would likely require the overhaul of our entire plugin suite to which we do not have the resources at the moment. If you desperately would like an interface like that you can try to reach out to these developers and they might be able to help you out.
About the UI being slow, can you give me some details on what is slow exactly?
Also I would recommend this article:
The Events Calendar Performance Considerations – https://theeventscalendar.com/the-events-calendar-performance-considerations/
One example is the fact that when you go to the “edit events” screen, it defaults to the first or last event in the system
On this we have to somewhat rely on WordPress and how WordPress does things.
What I can recommend you is to install our free Advanced Post Manager (APM) plugin, which will give you different filters to filter through the events quickly.
For your “feature requests” I encourage you to visit our User Voice Page and either upvote an existing request or make a new request there.
Thanks and let me know if I can help you any further.
Cheers,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
