ParticipantI am using ThemeFusion’s Avada theme, which comes with The Events Calendar. I upgraded to The Events Calendar Pro but it is not being recognized. I entered my license key but I am still unable to update Pro to the latest version. If I deactivate the version that comes with Avada, I have no Events at all. I’m not sure how to fix this. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

ParticipantHey Peggy,
To be clear, The Events Calendar’s inclusion in that theme is nothing we are a part of or support. I only mention this because there are numerous issues that can arise from theme-inclusion of plugins….
1. Before jumping to conclusions about the problem, however, can you share your “System Information” with me here? This article shows how to do that โ https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
2. You say this in your post: “If I deactivate the version that comes with Avada”…I would recommend deleting and version of a plugin that comes within your theme. It is not correct for plugins to be in themes and so you should remove this if possible. Then, install the real plugin from http://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar on your site. If this breaks the theme or further theme-specific help is needed on this, contact the Avada support team for assistance.

With the system information you share, I’ll be able to see more about your site’s makeup to get a better sense of the issue โ and then with proper plugin code installed, we can hopefully progress to the point of having Events Calendar Pro installed and activated without issue ๐
Cheers,

ParticipantHi, George,
Thanks for the quick response. I did delete the bundled version. However, when I install the Pro version, it doesn’t appear in the Nav bar so I am unable to send the system information with Pro installed. I reinstalled the bundled version and here is the system information.

ParticipantThanks for this Peggy! I’m a bit confused about the comments you made here:
I did delete the bundled version. However, when I install the Pro version, it doesnโt appear in the Nav bar so I am unable to send the system information with Pro installed. I reinstalled the bundled version and here is the system information.
1. To be clear, are you saying that The Events Calendar or Events Calendar Pro is “included” in the theme?
2. When you say “I reinstalled the bundled version”, what version number of this piece of software is it?
Thank you!

ParticipantHi, George,
The freee version of Events Calendar comes with the Avada theme. The version is 4.0.5. I wanted some of the features that are in the Pro version, so I upgraded. I disabled all plugins except fusion core, which is required for Avada, but have the same issue.

ParticipantThanks for clarifying Peggy.
Okay, so I would recommend removing the theme-included version of The Events Calendar again, and just installing the plugin version from http://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar
Once this plugin version is installed, then try installing Events Calendar Pro alongside it.
1. Once The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro are both installed, what is the version number for each plugin on your site?
2. Are there any error messages that pop up upon installing Events Calendar Pro? If so, what are they?
3. Does the “help” tab show up in Events > Settings?
Be sure that The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro are both installed and activated.
Let me know what you find โย I appreciate your patience with this back-and-forth here, I’m just trying to follow you through the process and see where things start going wrong. I really appreciate this!
Sincerely,
GeorgeJanuary 30, 2016 at 8:53 am #1065049Peggy OBrien Jones
ParticipantHi, George,
That worked! I no longer get the error that Pro needs to be updated. Everything seems to be working correctly. I very much appreciate your patience. I’m new to both WordPress and Avada. Thank you so much for your help.

ParticipantAwesome! Thanks for the update here Peggy.
I’ll close up this thread for now but open a new one any time if other issues arise ๐
