auto setting featured events by organizer

I have a project that I need some help with, and I suspect this will require a custom solution.

I am running TEC (free license) at http://artesianccc.org/eventscalendar/

All of the events in the calendar are fed by the Import Facebook Events (IFE) plugin from Xylus Themes. The setup works as intended, but I would like to augment the installation with some special features.

I have established two event categories in my TEC installation, one for ACCC Events (official events hosted by my organization) and Other Events (events hosted by other organizations but added to our Facebook calendar for networking purposes). By default, IFE imports all events into the Other Event category, and then I manually reassign the category as appropriate. It’s functional, but time-consuming.

Ideally, I also want all events in the ACCC Events category to be shown as Featured Events. I’ve found that IFE resets the featured event flag to zero each time it runs. 🙁

I would like a solution that automatically categorizes the imported events based on the Event Organizer field.

As an example, when the Event Organizer is equal to “Artesian City Car Club,” the event category should be set to “ACCC Events” and the Featured Event flag should be set to TRUE

When the Event Organizer is “Artesian City Car Club”, the event category should be set to “Other Events” and the Featured Event flag should be set to FALSE

Will the TEC Pro version natively allow for these features, or will it require some development? Unfortunately, the organization that owns this site does not have an extensive budget, so I’m looking for a reasonable solution with a minimal amount of cost.

I’m not really familiar with the Import Facebook Events plugin, but let me try to assist as much possible.

I would like a solution that automatically categorizes the imported events based on the Event Organizer field.

This is not a functionality of our Events Calendar PRO plugin, but I recommend you take a look at our Event Aggregator license that will enable you to import events using feeds from your favourite sources across the web like Facebook and Google Calendar.

Event Aggregator has an option to assign a default event category to the events you import, but if you need this category assignment to be dynamic based on the event organizer, then you will need some custom coding that makes use of our plugins available filters or actions.
