Robert
ParticipantURL: http://themusicman.com/events/
Problem: When selecting any view other than Month, the site redirects to the home page.
Troubleshooting: I tried using Twenty-Fiteen theme with no plugins active except The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro with the same result. Also verified that the permalink structure is set to Post name.
Please advise. Thank you.

MemberHi Robert,
I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties. Would it be possible for you to copy the system information provided at the foot of the Events → Help screen in here (by private reply if you prefer)?
Thanks!

MemberThanks!
So at least some of those other plugins may be impacting – All 404 Redirect to Homepage in particular sounds like it might be the culprit. Can you try deactivating that/can you confirm you did indeed run through our standard troubleshooting steps already?

ParticipantI have turned the 404 plugin off. That was my initial thought and I tried that first. Yes, I turned all plugins off and used the wordpress default theme and the problem still existed. Perhaps something in .htaccess is causing the issue?

MemberThat’s a possibility. If you remove those and reset the regular WordPress .htaccess file to its defaults (visiting the Settings → Permalinks should cause it to regenerate), does the problem still persist?
April 1, 2015 at 4:08 pm #952675Robert
ParticipantThat is the default for multisite. The htaccess above the WordPress directory cannot be changed, it is responsible for domain redirection for our server.

MemberOK: can you confirm that when you did your troubleshooting, plugins were turned off network-wide and that you simultaneously switched to a default theme (such as Twenty Fifteen)?
Is it possible for you to repeat those steps and – if you didn’t previously try this – “flush” the permalinks before reactivating anything (this is done quite simply by visiting the Settings → Permalinks screen – you don’t need to actually change anything).

MemberThanks Robert.
So if I set up a multisite network with domain mapping (implemented via the same plugin you are using) and activate The Events Calendar and Events Calendar on the primary blog, it “just works” and there is no problem accessing any of the views.
I am curious about the extra set of .htaccess rules, though – can you provide more details on these? It doesn’t seem to me that these are something the WordPress MU Domain Mapping will automatically add by itself (admittedly I’m not particularly familiar with this plugin – so I may be mistaken) … did you add these manually to work around some sort of restriction imposed by your hosting environment?
Are you able to switch to a different configuration (such as ServerAlias rules in your virtual host config) and see if that makes any difference?
April 2, 2015 at 10:01 am #952840Robert
ParticipantThere are many ways to set up multisite depending upon the server environment. The htaccess rules simply point each domain on our server to the wordpress root directory where the domain mapping plugin takes over.
April 2, 2015 at 10:08 am #952842Barry
MemberIs your WP root directory in a subdirectory? As you point out, there are lots of possible configurations so the more detail you can provide here the better 🙂
To that point, are you comfortable or able to try a different approach, such as I outlined (ServerAlias directives)?
April 2, 2015 at 10:44 am #952856Robert
ParticipantI’ll try and switch to ServerAlias method and see if anything changes.

ParticipantBarry,
I’ve been experimenting with some different configurations. One thing I would like to bring to your attention is the following:
I installed TheEventsCalendar and Pro onto a different site within the SAME multisite network. Which means the same .htaccess redirect rules are governing this site as well.
http://www.lavawalk.org/events/
The alternate views work just fine on this site. This site also uses the same theme as the first original site in question (themusicman.com).
This suggests that it has nothing to do with the redirect rules so I’ll turn it back to you guys for direction.
