add to cart button doesn't work

Hello,

New customer. I created an event and it seems that everything is setup correctly ( i hope). I have a freshly installed theme with no mods really. But the add to cart button on the event page does not work. The add to cart on the shop page seems to work well. The button does post to the cart but it is empty.

i did some searching but nothing seemed to match my issue. The default theme does the same.
