Hi there,
When I add text/an image to the “Advanced Template Settings” > “Add HTML before event content” area, it saves, appears on the calendar page, and then disappears from both the page and the settings shortly after.
I see that someone had this same issue a while back, but it was not resolved.
I followed the exact steps described in Matthew’s response. The issue has also repeated several times, as I’ve been tweaking the text/image in the field.
I don’t think I’m able to deactivate other plugins, as our site is live and well-trafficked.
Thank you for any help you can provide!

Thank you for reaching out to us and for providing your system information.
We are sorry to hear about the Add HTML before content is not working as expected for you.
I would love to help you with this topic. You are right, that person did have a similar problem to yours. However, since this is a relatively old thread, I believe it’s better to start afresh.
By the looks of it, it does sound like there is a conflict at play. It could be a conflict stemming from:
- Your PHP version ( WordPress recommends 5.6 or higher, but I would say at least 5.4 is a good idea if you can)
- Your WordPress theme
- Another plugin
- A customization in your WordPress theme or child theme
Based on the fact that your site has a lot of traffic, this leaves us with the following options:
- Use a temporary maintenance page to quickly perform some tests
- Make a copy of the site on a staging server or on a local install
If neither of these options are a possibility, I would at least do the following:
- Check with your web host to see if you can’t upgrade your version of PHP
- Send me a screenshot of your Events -> Settings -> General page settings
- Please confirm what URL you are using for your Community Events page
Best regards,
Geoff B.

I’ve attached a screenshot of our Events > Settings > General page.
In addition, we are testing the calendar on this page: wskg.org/events-v2
I will also request a PHP update, but if there’s anything you can suggest based on this information, I’d gladly take it!
Thank you.

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, it looks like the screenshot did not make it in the reply 🙁
Perhaps using something like a dropbox or google drive link would work better.
There are a couple of other things we could do.
- Go through our complete testing for conflicts procedure on your test install and let us know what you find out. Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
- Send us a .zip file link containing your WordPress theme and/or child-theme
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

Sorry about the image not coming through!
I figured it out. It doesn’t like the I tried to sneak in. Whenever I use it, the HTML gets removed. When I don’t use it, the HTML stays put.
This might not have been the other user’s issue, but it’s working for me!
Thank you for your help and patience.
