I have been spending days on this before buying the PRO version simply for some better support, so here it goes:
I have created 3 test events for the site https://simplykerry.com/ with the following sequence of actions:
FIRST ATTEMPT
1. Created events from events > add new
2. Taken care of the main settings (Default Events Template, event views, etc) and savedRESULT= 404 Not Found or both Calendar view and Single Event view
SECOND ATTEMPT
3. Toggled between the different views and options (tried them all)
4. Added this snippet in the functions.php file
5. Flushed permalinks as advised everywhere in the related forums
RESULT= Same as aboveTHIRD ATTEMPT
6. Changed Events URL slug and Single event URL slug to something totally different
7. Flushed permalinks
RESULT= a. Main Calendar view page SORTED
b. Single event page 404 NOT FOUNDFORTH ATTEMPT
8. A combination of all possible solutions for hours and hours
RESULT= 0after many nerve wrecking attempts and a weekend gone…
9. Bought the Events Calendar PRO
10. Asked for help right here
RESULT: pendingThanks in advance

I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough ride so far.
It looks like you’ve already done a lot of troubleshooting work with no result, so I’d like to suggest a slightly different angle.
Can you create a new WordPress site for testing purposes in a subdirectory (if your hosting account provides CPanel access this is often a simple task taking just a few minutes). Start on that site and install nothing initially except for the latest releases of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO.
Next, create a few test events. At this point, do you still hit the problems with 404s? If you do, can you link me to the test site so I can take another look?
Thanks!

I did create the test site and yes it did work with a different theme, I also switched back on all plugins and still, all good.
So.. The issue IS the actual theme.
Now..
That specific theme is basically a huge Pain .. … ..tt I inherited from the previous “developer” and we are supposed to use it for a while until I finish the new website I am designing for the client.QUESTION:
Is there any magic PHP snippet that I can (just) integrate with this “Custom” Genesis Child theme to sort it out in the meantime. I’d really appreciate any further assistance as this is driving me nuts…?Thanks again
ValentinaJune 30, 2015 at 7:24 am #973836BarryMemberHi Valentina,
I’ve successfully used (and seen customers here on the forum using) Genesis child themes so I suspect the problem is not the Genesis framework itself, but rather the specific child theme in question.
Unfortunately, it’s really difficult to suggest a magic PHP snippet without knowing what sort of things that child theme is doing. If you feel comfortable doing so, how about starting with this approach:
- Crack open the child theme’s functions.php file
- Systematically work through it, commenting out one section at a time / disabling action and filter calls
- Test as you go along (you may need to combine this with permalink flushes) until you potentially discover which hook or section of code is causing the problem
Of course, some amount of care is needed since one section might depend on another – but it might offer you a way to get to the bottom of this and take corrective action until you can move to a different child theme.
Would that work here?
June 30, 2015 at 10:46 pm #974051ValentinaParticipantDear Barry,
I’m afraid my last message didn’t come across the way it was supposed to in fact, I respect and use everyday the Genesis framework therefore, I didn’t doubt even for a second the fact that “the problem is not the Genesis framework itself”, and never suggested it was. What I said instead was that the Child Theme is the issue here so thanks so much for advising a possible route to take. It looks like a long and painful one though.
I will have to take some time before getting back to you with the results I got from testing.
In the meanwhile, please, if anything else comes to mind do let me know.July 1, 2015 at 6:13 am #974088BarryMemberHi Valentina,
It wasn’t that I misunderstood you (re Genesis), more that I was “thinking aloud” about possible causes and wanted to highlight and make it clear that it wasn’t looking like a compatibility problem with Genesis itself – mostly for the benefit of other users scanning this topic in the future 🙂
I will have to take some time before getting back to you with the results I got from testing.

Thanks again, and I hope you find the cause.
