Sorry, thanks for the response. I downgrade the Events Calendar and and it works now. It seems to have a problem on the newest update of the newspaper theme. It had coding displayed in the text box.

I would like to upgrade so if there is a work around let me know .Thanks.

Well, here’s the answer I got from my theme’s developer:

Unfortunately, this type of plugin is not tested with our theme and we cannot say for sure if it will work 100% without any problems with the theme and therefore we cannot make any recommendation in this regard, sorry! Maybe with the latest update of this plugin appeared some conflicts with the core theme and that’s why will not working as properly. Being an untested plugin, we cannot provide support for it because this is not covered by our support. For more information about our support policy, please check here -> http://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Perhaps, to make this plugin working as property with our theme is needed to make some adjusting in the code and this involve custom work and this type of services is unavailable at the moment, sorry! If you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you in this case. Usually, we recommend the developers from studio.envato.com.

Maybe I don’t know enough for my question as to the type of query / if I can query for events-specific tags to be clear. Can you word the question in such a way as the answer might be helpful to you, and I’ll convey it? Thanks!

Oh, thank you. I’ve reached out to the theme authors. When I was setting up my website, and I realized I couldn’t select event-specific categories or tags for blocks due to my theme’s setup, I just made sure to have tags in my events that were different from the tags in my posts, and that kept them separate. Too bad everyone else didn’t do that! 🙂

I’m using the Newspaper 6 theme by TagDiv. We have sections on our pages that say things like “Register Early for these Events”, and they are designed to show only tags listed as “Events Requiring Registration”, and I tag the appropriate events with that tag. I don’t know how the query is run, though, that’s beyond my knowledge. I just choose in Visual Composer to show all posts with a particular tag, and they appear in that section on the homepage (or whereever). With the update, they all disappear from those sections.

Also, when I updated the Community Calendar, when I tested the menu link to the “Add an Event to the Calendar” page, I was taken to the site’s home page instead of the actual page to add an event to the calendar.
