ParticipantI had to deactivate the Bookly plugin again to be able to adjust the CSS code, but I did find the culprit. This is my altered code
.tribe-events-adv-list-widget .tribe-event-featured, .tribe-mini-calendar-list-wrapper .tribe-event-featured {
background: rgb(116, 94, 251);
}I found that the background was set to transparent when I inspected the featured events in the widget. Setting it to pretty much any color fixed the problem.
I am marking this as resolved because I can work around the 500 error when I need to access the Customizer, but I would greatly appreciate it if the conflict could be actually resolved on a future update.
Thank you for your time.

ParticipantApparently the conflict is with the plugin “Bookly” (http://booking-wp-plugin.com/).
When the Bookly plugin was deactivated, I was able to access the customizer and make the changes I needed to make. Everything looked perfect from within the customizer. However, on the actual site now I am running into the invisible Featured Events in the widget, just like https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-list-widget-featured-events-are-blank/I am going to attempt to resolve the problem through CSS to override the invisibility glitch.
I have reactivated the Bookly plugin because it is essential to the functioning of the website. Thankfully I don’t need to use the Customizer very often, so it’s not the end of the world if I can’t get to it easily.
