Participanti wondered that too but the slugs dont have any parentheses:
‘am’, ‘cslt’, ‘fin-a’, ‘fin-b’, ‘hr-a’, ‘hr-b’, ‘ib’, ‘re’, ‘mktg-a’, ‘mktg-b’, ‘ops’, ‘sls’, ‘st’, ‘seo-u-asset-management’, ‘seo-u-finance’, ‘seo-u-ib’, ‘seo-u-law-in-2’, ‘seo-u-marketing’, ‘seo-u-operations’, ‘seo-u-sales-trading’, ‘seo-u-transaction-services’, ‘ts’

Participantthis is the link from your support forum: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/hide-category-from-filterbar/
you were right about the category slugs; i had copied that section from somewhere else and forgot to switch them to the slugs 🙂
oddly enough, now half of them are working–every other one. any ideas? thanks!
Nicole
Participantno…i am changing the calendar to a new program (using new categories) and trying to avoid deleting the many categories we used for the original setup. so i would just like to hide the original categories from the dropdown. using css does not work across all browsers (ie firefox/ie) as you can reference from the other forum post i linked to. in that post, you used an addition to functions.php which i tried, but does not implement.
Nicole
Participanthi..that is the right track. i dont know why it changed, but i am in the process of fixing. thank you!
Nicole
Participantok, thank you. i will ask the client what she wants to do.

Participantthis was the code that i added to my month.php. when i commented it out, i could then view month view as well, but it does not come up first by list:
if( wp_is_mobile() ) { wp_redirect( tribe_get_upcoming_link() ); }thanks.
Nicole
Participantedit: it doesn’t work on tablets either.

Participantactually, filter bar is now working for some reason, but the View As Month is not working.

Participanthi Jami,
no that’s correct. but it doesnt work that way on month view, which is really what i need.
thanks!April 27, 2015 at 6:55 pm in reply to: horizontal vs vertical dropdown filter does not stay open #958791Nicole
Participantsorry i clicked submit too quickly. what i mean is in the horizontal view, the dropdown only stays open for as long as the month stays the same. it does appear to retain the selection, however, without the form staying open it is confusing what the viewer may be looking at. thank you.
